CUET Marks vs Percentile are two different metrics to evaluate performance of students who appeared in the CUET Exam. Some colleges use percentile for admission while some like DU base their admissions on normalised score. The score is a measure of how you performed in each subject while percentile assesses the relative performance in comparison to all candidates who appeared. For example, 99 percentile in the exam means you have scored more than 99% of the students who appeared for the exam.

Based on Marks vs Percentile analysis of last year, a raw score over 700 is good to get you a 99+ percentile. This score and percentile range opens doors for admission to the top ranked colleges in India including DU, BHU, JNU. Notably, NTA released CUET results on June 30, 2024 and counselling is expected to commence by the end of July.

59 - 50 74 - 70
49 - 40 69 - 55
39 - 20 54 - 30
  • Marks are a sum of your subject marks before normalisation.
  • Percentile as mentioned in your score card assesses candidate's performance relative to other candidates.

How to interpret the Marks vs Percentile table?

The Marks vs Percentile table shows the expected percentile range based on the normalized NTA score. For example, if a candidate's score falls between 188-220, their expected percentile is 99-100. Evaluating marks versus percentile is essential because it standardizes scores which ensures fairness in the evaluation process. While raw marks provide an absolute measure of performance, percentile scores play a crucial role in admissions and selection criteria for universities and colleges.

Evaluate Marks vs Percentile

No normalized score this year?

Calculating the scores of students by bringing them on the same scale in case the exam for a particular subject is conducted in multiple shifts. Now, as per the CUET 2024 information bulletin, NTA has indicated to conduct CUET exam for each subject (including general test and languages) in a single shift to do away with the need for a normalization process. However, under unavoidable circumstances, if some papers like English was conducted in multiple shifts, then the normalization process will be done using the equi-percentile method.

Calculating the CUET Score

The scorecard contains important information such as Overall Rank, AIR (All India Rank), Overall Score and Percentile. More details which are mentioned in the scoredcard includes overall score, overall percentile, category, subject code, etc. Based on the information in the scorecard, this is how you calculate your Score. The percentile is calculated based on the normalized score. NTA uses the below-mentioned formula to calculate the percentile score:

(100 X the no. of of candidates who appeared in the session having raw score equal to or less than the candidate)/ The total no. of candidates appeared in the session
