I have said this many times and will say it again, one should never underestimate the value a CGPA holds in shaping your career. Don’t fall for the trap ‘Grades don’t Matter’ because they do and to a great extent. This can be further understood through the following anecdote that revolves around two of my closest friends. Both of them were CSE students at NIT Rourkela. Both were regular in their classes and completed their assignments on time. However, by the end of the 3rd year, one friend scored a CGPA of 6.90 while the other ended up getting a 7.05 CGPA . During the placements, most top companies like Microsoft, Uber, De-shaw, Arcesium, Visa, and Samsung set their cutoffs to 7 CGPA. Students who did not qualify for this weren’t eligible to sit for their placements. The friend with the higher CGPA appeared in the interview for several companies and ended up with a good role and package while the other friend with slightly less but below 7 CGP could not even sit for their placements. Eventually, he got placed in an average company with a low package. The core lesson from this anecdote is that CGPA matters a lot during placements, especially for the best companies. Additionally, the vast DC++ internal college network provides instant access to hundreds of TB of movies, TV series and games. The CSE department has an excellent academic environment with a plethora of job opportunities in huge firms like Google and Microsoft. Additionally, you get the chances to pursue research internships or MS top foreign universities. So, the life of a first year student at NIT Warangal is filled with a lot of exciting events and memories!

I always recommend people give preference to branches over the institute. This is because if you go for a less preferred branch, you will end up taking a software job anyways. So it’s better to choose a NIT instead of an IIT provided that you get CSE. If you join the CSE branch at NIT Warangal you will develop software skills and succeed in the field rather than taking up the job just because you had no other options in Civil. The exposure offered to CSE in NIT Warangal is great and students can be seen participating in coding competitions that enhance their coding abilities tenfold. You end up becoming a skilled programmer and not an average programmer who had to choose the field unwillingly. So, joining NI MT Warangal CSE is a better option than joining Civil Engineering at a new IIT unless you want to get government jobs like IES, Civil services.

If you are from the home state of Karnataka choose Surathkal but if you are from the home state of Warangal, choose NIT Warangal. I would recommend you to go for NIT Warangal as it has better opportunities if you are inclined towards research. The alumni base is huge and there is even an innovation garage where the ideas of students are implemented.

Comparing a dormant branch like Civil with the most coveted branch CSE isn’t a very logical way of getting an idea of the placement scenario. Every student of the CSE branch ends up with a core job so its placement scenario is incomparable. Civil Engineering despite having a low demand has a decent number of core positions recruited. Nowadays, the youth is not interested in joining PSUs mainly because of their low pay in comparison to software companies. Most civil engineering students are interested in core positions so the numbers in non-core aren't that great. Moreover, the number of students interested in MS, CAT, and GATE is growing every year affecting the placement statistics largely. Dr. K Ramesh is a beloved teacher of CSE students. He has a teaching style of his own. Initially, you will find Dr. K Ramesh to be strict. This is because he doesn’t tolerate it if you don’t execute the program within the stipulated time. But as time goes by, you will find him to be the best teacher at the CSE department of NIT Warangal. Fourth Semester- The fourth semester gives you lots of free time with most of the classes getting canceled. You’ll find 4th-semester students at the movies, restaurants, cafeterias, and every other hangout spot. You'll be told that the fourth semester is easy. However, it is not. The fourth semester is filled with theory subjects. This is my experience with the CSE department of NIT Warangal up till now. You will enjoy your time at the CSE department of NIT Warangal and have a great faculty by your side.

Without that you’ll either hate your profession or choose a completely different career path altogether.If you are into math, coding, logic and problem-solving, choose CSE. On the other hand, if you want to study materials, metals, extraction, etc, choose Metallurgy. Profession - CSE will give you better opportunities in the IT sector. You might get a fat check, work for a good company, and live in metropolitans. As you know, IT jobs are basically office jobs.On the other hand, core Metallurgy jobs deal with steel plants, mines and such. You’ll end up working in a remote area if you choose a core job.The placements for CSE are overall much better than Metallurgy, across all engineering colleges. But if you have a passion for metallurgy, you might end up in a good brand or get selected for a government position. Location- Both the places are culturally very different. Research a bit, and figure out which place’s food habits, climate, and culture suits you better. According to me your college will last for 4 years. However, your branch will become an intrinsic part of your personality and profession. Unless you have an interest in Metallurgy or a good chance at sliding to another branch, choose CSE at NIT Durgapur.

Every Thing You Need To Know About NIT Warangal

In first year we have a non credit mandatory course called EAA. In which we need to wake up and go to stadium to work out at 6 am. And even it also has 80% attendance criteria
For completing a semester we need to have a minimum attendance of 80% it is really brutal.

Fees and Financial Aid:

As i mentioned tution fee is 125000 per year and hostel fee is 28000 per year and we also have to pay 11000 at the start of every year as a mandatory fee. also we need to pay 1725 as mess fee for every 15 days. and another 2000 for extra spending per month. of course, SC, ST, and income<1lakh per annum students have complete tuition fee reimbursement.

BTech Experience at NIT Warangal

Life in NITW

Fees and Financial Aid:

Tution fee for me was 10,000 as i am an ST candidate .Generals have fee structure more around 70,000 for tution fees.The hostel fees are same for all aroung 26,000 a year. It was increased in 2 years and it was 27,000 at my last semester.Those with Economically backward class also has scholarships and have less tution fee.I have taken the NSP scholarship which may give around 50,000.My complete education cost is 1,06,000 .This includes the tution fee10,000 (per year) + {hostel fee 5000 + other fee( seat rent 3000 + electricity&water 5000 ) per semester.}.There are stipends available for M.tech students who have passed the GATE and scored good otherwise no.Campus employments are available by the professors to do on their project work .

Academics syllabus is very well planned. From the very first day, the student studies his/her branch subjects which help in understanding the branch and build deep interest in the subjects.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The fee structure is very complex. There is tuition fee something around 62500/- per semester along with some extra fees like examination fee and other facilities. The hostel fee is around 29000/- which includes seat rent, water and electricity. Other than this there are scholarships for the students. Fee remission also there for the students of reserved categories.

What is the importance of a CGPA for a B.Tech (CSE) student to get a good campus placement at Nit Warangal?

I have said this many times and will say it again, one should never underestimate the value a CGPA holds in shaping your career. Don’t fall for the trap ‘Grades don’t Matter’ because they do and to a great extent. This can be further understood through the following anecdote that revolves around two of my closest friends.

Both of them were CSE students at NIT Rourkela. Both were regular in their classes and completed their assignments on time. However, by the end of the 3rd year, one friend scored a CGPA of 6.90 while the other ended up getting a 7.05 CGPA .

During the placements, most top companies like Microsoft, Uber, De-shaw, Arcesium, Visa, and Samsung set their cutoffs to 7 CGPA. Students who did not qualify for this weren’t eligible to sit for their placements. The friend with the higher CGPA appeared in the interview for several companies and ended up with a good role and package while the other friend with slightly less but below 7 CGP could not even sit for their placements. Eventually, he got placed in an average company with a low package.

The core lesson from this anecdote is that CGPA matters a lot during placements, especially for the best companies. Hope my answer clarified the importance of a CGPA for a BTech in CSE student at NIT Warangal.

First year at NIT Warangal Is common for students of all branches. The first year is the most exciting year filled with a number of dynamic events round the year. The first year witnesses two annual festivals

First-year students are allotted the Ultra Mega Hostel also known as 1.8k which is Asia’s biggest hostel. The hostel has a total of 9 floors connected with lifts and endless corridors. Life here is never dull even for a second.

The students are provided 24/7 high speed unlimited internet connection and WiFi. Additionally, the vast DC++ internal college network provides instant access to hundreds of TB of movies, TV series and games.

The CSE department has an excellent academic environment with a plethora of job opportunities in huge firms like Google and Microsoft. Additionally, you get the chances to pursue research internships or MS top foreign universities.

So, the life of a first year student at NIT Warangal is filled with a lot of exciting events and memories!

Should I join NIT Warangal for CSE or a new IIT with civil engineering?

I always recommend people give preference to branches over the institute. This is because if you go for a less preferred branch, you will end up taking a software job anyways. So it’s better to choose a NIT instead of an IIT provided that you get CSE.

If you join the CSE branch at NIT Warangal you will develop software skills and succeed in the field rather than taking up the job just because you had no other options in Civil. The exposure offered to CSE in NIT Warangal is great and students can be seen participating in coding competitions that enhance their coding abilities tenfold. You end up becoming a skilled programmer and not an average programmer who had to choose the field unwillingly.

So, joining NI MT Warangal CSE is a better option than joining Civil Engineering at a new IIT unless you want to get government jobs like IES, Civil services.

However, I would like to tell highlight a few things-

Electronics and Electrical value your ability to remember random figures rather than polishing your technical knowledge.
The syllabus and question paper for both these courses is below par at NIT Warangal. The syllabus for them is outdated.
Placements are high at NITW, but software profiles are mostly offered.
Most students start coding from their pre-final year because of low placement chances in the core companies of other disciplines.
The college infrastructure and hostel facilities may disappoint you.

Government colleges other than IIT D, B, and K are lagging behind in reality.

They have subpar infrastructure and their administration is old and rigid. They offer no extra support and opportunities to their students. All of this combined with the rigorous academic schedule causes plenty of frustration.

Which is better for CSE, NIT Warangal or Surathkal?

In my opinion, if you are getting a top NIT, then choosing CSE will be a better decision unless you are interested in any other specific branch. As far as comparing the CSE branch in Warangal and Surathkal, both offer similar opportunities and academic experience.

Given all the similarities, choosing one between these two NITs depends more on your personal choices such as proximity to home and crowd. If you are from the home state of Karnataka choose Surathkal but if you are from the home state of Warangal, choose NIT Warangal.

I would recommend you to go for NIT Warangal as it has better opportunities if you are inclined towards research. The alumni base is huge and there is even an innovation garage where the ideas of students are implemented.

How are placements for civil engineers at NIT, Warangal compared to other branches like CSE?

Comparing a dormant branch like Civil with the most coveted branch CSE isn’t a very logical way of getting an idea of the placement scenario. Every student of the CSE branch ends up with a core job so its placement scenario is incomparable. Civil Engineering despite having a low demand has a decent number of core positions recruited.

Nowadays, the youth is not interested in joining PSUs mainly because of their low pay in comparison to software companies. Most civil engineering students are interested in core positions so the numbers in non-core aren't that great. Moreover, the number of students interested in MS, CAT, and GATE is growing every year affecting the placement statistics largely.

This is how life is at the CSE department of NIT Warangal-

First and Second Semesters-

As a CSE student, you will have to be good at programming. You will study PSCP which is C++.
If your CR is good at it, they can get you free lectures and this will buy you lots of free time.
You’ll get a lot of freedom at NITW. However, there is a hostel curfew of 9 p.m. for first-year students.
The first years have a common curriculum for all the branches.
You can learn online coding on platforms like Codechef, Hackerrank, etc.

Third Semester-

During your third semester, you will get plenty of coding assignments.
Dr. K Ramesh is a beloved teacher of CSE students. He has a teaching style of his own.
Initially, you will find Dr. K Ramesh to be strict. This is because he doesn’t tolerate it if you don’t execute the program within the stipulated time. But as time goes by, you will find him to be the best teacher at the CSE department of NIT Warangal.

Fourth Semester-

The fourth semester gives you lots of free time with most of the classes getting canceled.
You’ll find 4th-semester students at the movies, restaurants, cafeterias, and every other hangout spot.
You'll be told that the fourth semester is easy. However, it is not.
The fourth semester is filled with theory subjects.

This is my experience with the CSE department of NIT Warangal up till now. You will enjoy your time at the CSE department of NIT Warangal and have a great faculty by your side.

Which is better: CSE in NIT, Durgapur or metallurgy in NIT, Warangal?

I would like you to consider certain important things before making your decision-

College- Without a doubt, NIT Warangal is ahead of NIT Durgapur in terms of faculty, infrastructure and hostel facilities.

Subject - You need to choose your subject based on your interests. Without that you’ll either hate your profession or choose a completely different career path altogether. If you are into math, coding, logic and problem-solving, choose CSE. On the other hand, if you want to study materials, metals, extraction, etc, choose Metallurgy.
Profession - CSE will give you better opportunities in the IT sector. You might get a fat check, work for a good company, and live in metropolitans. As you know, IT jobs are basically office jobs.On the other hand, core Metallurgy jobs deal with steel plants, mines and such. You’ll end up working in a remote area if you choose a core job.The placements for CSE are overall much better than Metallurgy, across all engineering colleges. But if you have a passion for metallurgy, you might end up in a good brand or get selected for a government position.
Location- Both the places are culturally very different. Research a bit, and figure out which place’s food habits, climate, and culture suits you better.

According to me your college will last for 4 years. However, your branch will become an intrinsic part of your personality and profession. Unless you have an interest in Metallurgy or a good chance at sliding to another branch, choose CSE at NIT Durgapur.
