Dr Karabi Goswami is a Ph.D. holder from Gauhati University, Guwahati, and is currently working in the NERIM Group of Institutions as HOD, Department of Business Administration. She has completed her MBA from Tezpur Central University and has a decade of experience in the education sector. She also has experience working in several corporate houses prior to her career in teaching. This experience has helped her impart practical learning to her students in addition to theoretical knowledge. Dr. Goswami specializes in Human Resource Management and has participated in many International and National conferences in this field. She has also had many publications in her chosen area of expertise. She is a visionary leader and plans to make the Department of Business Administration, NERIM Group of Institutions one of the best departments in North-East India.

What is the latest program that you are offering in your department that will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?

The Department of Business Administration is currently offering MBA, BBA, PGDM, and MBA Part-time courses. A degree in MBA is necessary to ensure a promising career in the ever-growing competitive and demanding job market. The successful completion of an MBA degree leads to a wide range of career opportunities and also puts students on a path that helps them realize their maximum career potential. In the near future, we are planning to introduce many new specializations as per the changing demands of the market.

What will you say are the ‘best practices ‘ in the course you are offering?

In the course that our department is offering, I would say that the best practices are designing a curriculum that balances foundational business courses with specialized tracks, allowing students to gain a broad understanding of business principles while also developing expertise in their chosen field, setting up placement cells which provide the best opportunity for liaison with industry experts which provide a great opportunity for students to pick up great practical skills, developing strong relations with alumni to provide students with networking opportunities, taking students for regular industrial visits where they can relate their theoretical learning with practical experience, and inviting regular guest lecturers from reputed corporate houses to motivate the students.

What are some valuable insights of the program that you are offering at your institute /dept.?

The MBA/ BBA program offered by our Business Administration Department helps students bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications. Students are provided with opportunities to get theoretical knowledge as well as practical learning is provided to them through case studies, simulations, internships, and projects. The program offers a range of specialization options (marketing, finance, human resources, systems, etc.) to cater to diverse student interests and career aspirations. We have faculty members with a blend of academic expertise and industry experience who can provide the students with valuable insights and connections to the business world.

What are the types of projects the students are working on through the program?

The students are working on a variety of projects that align with their chosen specialization, interests, and the skills that they are developing. Students are working on detailed business plans for start-up activities, market research, financial projections, marketing strategies, work-life balance, HR strategies, HR policies, etc. Some projects focus on strategic planning for organizations and competitive analysis. These projects help students to learn through practical experience.
