The State CET Cell, Maharashtra will release MHT CET 2025 Cutoff after the completion of MHT CET 2025 counselling process and it will be released seperately for each round.

The MHT CET 2025 expected cutoffs outline the minimum marks required for admission to engineering colleges across Maharashtra. Premier colleges such as COEP Pune will have cut-offs competitive enough, with CSE being ~7,500 and Mechanical being ~45,000. VJTI Mumbai has CSE being ~9,500 and Mechanical being ~42,000, whereas PICT Pune has CSE being ~10,000 and Mechanical being ~50,000.

“Out of 675,377 candidates in MHT CET 2024, only 37 scored 100 percentile—34 from PCM and 3 from PCB. This represents just 0.009% of PCM candidates, 0.001% of PCB candidates, and 0.005% overall, emphasizing the rarity of achieving a perfect score.”

MHT CET Cutoff category-wise

The MHT CET 2025 cutoff changes very much according to candidate category, and reserved categories like OBC, SC, ST, etc., are provided with relaxation in cutoff marks and percentage.

The cutoffs are released in CAP rounds by the State CET Cell depending upon seat availability, category-wise reservation norms, and performance of candidates.

CSE in COEP Pune has a difference of 60 marks between General (160+) and ST (100) cut-offs, showing an extreme advantage to reserved categories.

  • Mechanical Engineering cutoffs are 20–25 marks less than CSE in all categories; e.g., COEP Gen: 135, SC: 100, ST: 78.
  • ST candidates are eligible at COEP with 75 marks, whereas General candidates require 130 marks, indicating a close to 55-mark difference.
  • EWS cut-offs for top branches such as CSE vary only by 2–4 marks from General.

MHT CET Cutoff percentile

The MHT CET 2025 Cutoff Percentile refers to the minimum percentile score that one needs to secure admission to different branches of engineering in Maharashtra's top colleges.

Cutoffs depend on the category of the candidate, selected branch, and individual college. Branches like Computer Engineering and Information Technology are highly competitive and expected to have higher cutoff percentiles, particularly in top institutions like COEP Pune and VJTI Mumbai.

  • Top branches such as CSE and IT in COEP and VJTI require percentiles of more than 99.90 for General category, whereas ST candidates can get these branches at approximately 96.00–96.20 percentile.
  • OBC candidates get a marginal relief, as cutoff percentiles are generally 0.10–0.15 lower than the General category in top institutes.
  • Mechanical and Civil Engineering streams have relatively lower cutoff percentiles, typically between 97.00–98.50 for General category, thus being more accessible.
  • Institutes such as SPIT and PICT provide competitive alternatives, with cutoff percentiles for CSE and IT streams ranging from 99.30–99.70, offering alternatives over COEP and VJTI.

Can I Get COEP with 95 Percentile?

If you get 95 percentile (~125 marks) in MHT CET 2025 , you can apply for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering at COEP Pune. But admission to Computer Science (CSE) or Information Technology (IT) at COEP demands a much higher score (~160 marks, ~99 percentile) since these branches are very competitive.

For 95 percentile (~125 marks), you will likely get placed in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering. These are established branches and provide excellent opportunities for students in placements and industry exposure.

Here’s a breakdown of the expected marks for branches at COEP:

Branch Expected Marks
Mechanical Engineering 125-135 marks
Electrical Engineering 120-130 marks
Civil Engineering 110-120 marks

Can I Get VJTI at 80 Percentile?

Sadly, with 80 percentile (~90 marks), admission into VJTI Mumbai, particularly for branches such as CSE or IT, which are very competitive and demand higher ranks, is not possible. VJTI has a strict admission process with cutoffs demanding at least 95 percentile (~125 marks) for CSE/IT.

Still, students of 80 percentile have the potential to secure admissions in mid-level private colleges. Alternatives providing Mechanical, Civil, and IT streams are PICT Pune, DJ Sanghvi, and Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, with reasonable cutoffs for students with 80 percentile.

Alternative Colleges for 80 Percentile in MHT CET

College Name Branches Offered Expected Marks
PICT Pune Mechanical, Civil, AI-DS, IT 90-100 marks
DJ Sanghvi College Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electronics 90-100 marks
Vishwakarma Institute Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electrical 95-100 marks

Is 50 Marks Good in MHT CET?

50 marks (~60 percentile) might prove to be too low for top-ranked government colleges like COEP or VJTI, but not so for the admission in private colleges providing courses like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and IT.

Most private colleges in Maharashtra provide good education in Engineering with 50-60 percentile marks. MIT WPU Pune, DY Patil College of Engineering, and Shivaji University COE, Kolhapur, are some of the best colleges for students in this range. Although these colleges are not as popular as COEP or VJTI, they are still good for students and assist them in fulfilling their career aspirations.

Colleges for 50 Marks in MHT CET 2025

College Name Branches Offered Expected Marks
MIT WPU Pune Mechanical, Civil 50-60 marks
DY Patil College Mechanical, Civil, Electronics 50-60 marks
Shivaji University COE Mechanical, Civil 50-60 marks

How Many Marks is the 72 Percentile?

A 72 percentile score (~80-85 marks) means that you have a good opportunity to get admitted in mid-level private colleges providing branches such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or AI/DS.

With 72 percentile, you can try for colleges such as PICT Pune, DJ Sanghvi, or Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, where competition is not as high. These colleges provide good opportunities in non-CSE/IT streams and enable you to establish a good foundation for your career.

Colleges for 72 Percentile in MHT CET

College Name Branches Offered Expected Marks
PICT Pune Mechanical, Civil, AI-DS, IT 80-90 marks
DJ Sanghvi College Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electronics 80-90 marks
Vishwakarma Institute Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electrical 85-90 marks

MHT CET Branch wise Cut off 2025

Cut-offs of MHT CET 2025 will increase based on high competition in some branches and reserved categories. GOPENS cutoff in CSE and IT will be between 7,500 marks to 9,700 marks, whereas Electrical Engineering (EE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) will be between 43,000 to 47,000 marks. Increased cut-offs for reserved classes (OBC, SC, ST) would specifically be observed for CSE and IT.

Private colleges such as DJ Sanghvi and SPIT Mumbai would have higher cutoffs, which would be between 13,000 to 16,000 points for CSE and IT respectively. AIML and data science would be competitive with cutoffs ranging from 11,000 to 15,500 points. Top institutes overall such as COEP and VJTI will be extremely competitive with higher cutoffs required for sought-after branches, so target 130+ marks for 95+ percentile.

If you are non-domiciled in Maharashtra, you can apply for MHT CET, if you have a valid JEE Main score for admissions to BTech, B.E. and B Pharm courses.
There is however no category-wise eligibility criteria for candidates who are non-domiciled in Maharashtra.  MHT CET is almost equivalent to JEE Main as students who have cleared JEE Main are not required to take the MHT CET exams and are directly referred to the counselling rounds.
