How many marks are required for COEP in MHT CET?
COEP Technological University, Pune, is among the top engineering colleges in Maharashtra. COEP admissions via MHT CET are highly competitive, especially for streams like Computer Engineering and Electronics.
- The scores needed vary with branch, category, and admission round, between the 99th to 99.9th percentile range.
- Cut-offs have increased by 5–7 marks in top branches like CS and ENTC over the last 3 years, due to a rise in competition and higher participating competition and preparation levels.
- SC/ST candidates get the advantage of a big cut-off dip by 30 to 50 marks, however CS branch generally fills early as it has limited seats.
- CAP Round 1 usually has the most cut-offs, while Rounds 2 & 3 have a 3–7 mark fall, particularly in lower-demand branches.

College-Wise MHT CET Cut Off
Can I Get COEP with 95 Percentile?
If you get 95 percentile (~125 marks) in MHT CET 2025 , you can apply for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering at COEP Pune. But admission to Computer Science (CSE) or Information Technology (IT) at COEP demands a much higher score (~160 marks, ~99 percentile) since these branches are very competitive.
For 95 percentile (~125 marks), you will likely get placed in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering. These are established branches and provide excellent opportunities for students in placements and industry exposure.
Here’s a breakdown of the expected marks for branches at COEP:
Branch | Expected Marks |
---|---|
Mechanical Engineering | 125-135 marks |
Electrical Engineering | 120-130 marks |
Civil Engineering | 110-120 marks |
Can I Get VJTI at 80 Percentile?
Sadly, with 80 percentile (~90 marks), admission into VJTI Mumbai, particularly for branches such as CSE or IT, which are very competitive and demand higher ranks, is not possible. VJTI has a strict admission process with cutoffs demanding at least 95 percentile (~125 marks) for CSE/IT.
Still, students of 80 percentile have the potential to secure admissions in mid-level private colleges. Alternatives providing Mechanical, Civil, and IT streams are PICT Pune, DJ Sanghvi, and Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, with reasonable cutoffs for students with 80 percentile.
Alternative Colleges for 80 Percentile in MHT CET
College Name | Branches Offered | Expected Marks |
---|---|---|
PICT Pune | Mechanical, Civil, AI-DS, IT | 90-100 marks |
DJ Sanghvi College | Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electronics | 90-100 marks |
Vishwakarma Institute | Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electrical | 95-100 marks |
Is 50 Marks Good in MHT CET?
50 marks (~60 percentile) might prove to be too low for top-ranked government colleges like COEP or VJTI, but not so for the admission in private colleges providing courses like Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and IT.
Most private colleges in Maharashtra provide good education in Engineering with 50-60 percentile marks. MIT WPU Pune, DY Patil College of Engineering, and Shivaji University COE, Kolhapur, are some of the best colleges for students in this range. Although these colleges are not as popular as COEP or VJTI, they are still good for students and assist them in fulfilling their career aspirations.
Colleges for 50 Marks in MHT CET 2025
College Name | Branches Offered | Expected Marks |
---|---|---|
MIT WPU Pune | Mechanical, Civil | 50-60 marks |
DY Patil College | Mechanical, Civil, Electronics | 50-60 marks |
Shivaji University COE | Mechanical, Civil | 50-60 marks |
How Many Marks is the 72 Percentile?
A 72 percentile score (~80-85 marks) means that you have a good opportunity to get admitted in mid-level private colleges providing branches such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or AI/DS.
With 72 percentile, you can try for colleges such as PICT Pune, DJ Sanghvi, or Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, where competition is not as high. These colleges provide good opportunities in non-CSE/IT streams and enable you to establish a good foundation for your career.
Colleges for 72 Percentile in MHT CET
College Name | Branches Offered | Expected Marks |
---|---|---|
PICT Pune | Mechanical, Civil, AI-DS, IT | 80-90 marks |
DJ Sanghvi College | Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electronics | 80-90 marks |
Vishwakarma Institute | Mechanical, Civil, IT, Electrical | 85-90 marks |
MHT CET Branch wise Cut off 2025
Cut-offs of MHT CET 2025 will increase based on high competition in some branches and reserved categories. GOPENS cutoff in CSE and IT will be between 7,500 marks to 9,700 marks, whereas Electrical Engineering (EE) and Mechanical Engineering (ME) will be between 43,000 to 47,000 marks. Increased cut-offs for reserved classes (OBC, SC, ST) would specifically be observed for CSE and IT.
Private colleges such as DJ Sanghvi and SPIT Mumbai would have higher cutoffs, which would be between 13,000 to 16,000 points for CSE and IT respectively. AIML and data science would be competitive with cutoffs ranging from 11,000 to 15,500 points. Top institutes overall such as COEP and VJTI will be extremely competitive with higher cutoffs required for sought-after branches, so target 130+ marks for 95+ percentile.

If you are non-domiciled in Maharashtra, you can apply for MHT CET, if you have a valid JEE Main score for admissions to BTech, B.E. and B Pharm courses.
There is however no category-wise eligibility criteria for candidates who are non-domiciled in Maharashtra. MHT CET is almost equivalent to JEE Main as students who have cleared JEE Main are not required to take the MHT CET exams and are directly referred to the counselling rounds.
Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute releases MHT CET cut-offs for each programs and the different categories of students. With 93 percentile score you might be able to meet the cut-off for some of the B.Tech programs. You can check the cut-off trend of this college from VJTI Cut-off.
