First of all, the purpose of mock tests should be clear. Mock Tests are a means to identify your weaker topics and mistakes so that you can work on them to improve your score in the real exam ultimately. You have to learn so well that you answer all the questions on those topics correctly without any mistakes.
While analyzing a mock test, see where you spent your time, both on question and subject levels. For individual questions, look for the reasons for spending more time on them and check if they were correct. Similarly, learn to divide your time wisely between the exam sections. Ideally, you should not spend too much time.
Analyze why you spent more time answering some questions. Most probably, it would be your ego that arose and made you think you have read the topic well, so you would complete the question, no matter what. But this is a wrong approach, don’t take any question on your ego. There are some alerts that you should move to the next one.
You don’t have to keep solving the questions serially but solve them using a roundwise strategy. You can use the 40-30-20 rule to implement the Roundwise strategy. There are 90 minutes in each section of MHT CET.
For the first 40 minutes, attempt to solve the easy and doable questions from the section. You have to identify the easy questions and solve them, leaving the difficult ones for later. Try to be within the time limit. For the next 30 minutes, attempt to solve the moderate questions you think can be solved. Now, in the last 20 minutes, attempt the hard questions, or you can work on some easier questions that might have needed more time. This strategy will ensure you leave no questions unattempted, which generally happens otherwise.
After attempting a mock test, you have to analyze your mistakes generally of three types: Silly, Conceptual, or Random Guess.
While sitting in the real exam, three factors determine your score: Time, Questions, and Pressure to perform well. We have talked about the first two. Now, let’s have a look at Exam Pressure.
So, in a real exam, there is pressure to perform well as it is the final attempt, and your mind thinks you can’t mess this up. This actually messes things up. But while attempting mock tests, there is no such pressure. So, your goal should be to attempt the mock tests under such real pressure. You should sit in a place where no one should disturb you, and you don’t get distracted. One more tip that most toppers use to compensate for the exam pressure is to try to attempt the mock test in less than the allotted time.
There is no negative marking in MHT CET, so you must attempt all the questions in real exams and mock tests, too. But when analyzing the mock tests, analyze your accuracy in the mock test. Ideally, your accuracy should be at least 85 to 90 percent for easy questions and around 70 percent for moderate questions. Without this accuracy, there is no guarantee that your answer will be correct. You can practice for accuracy using our Topic, Sectional, and Full Mock tests.
