Section | Type of Questions | Total Marks | Scoring Pattern |
Section A | Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) | 50 | 1 mark for each correct answer, 0.25 negative marking for wrong answers |
Section B | Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) | 35 | 2 marks for each correct answer, 0.5 negative marking for wrong answers |
Section C | Numerical Answer Type (NAT) | 35 | 2 marks for each correct answer, no negative marking |
IIT JAM 2025 Normalization Process
The normalization process in IIT JAM 2025 is designed to address the differences in difficulty levels across various exam sessions. Given that IIT JAM is held in multiple sessions, normalization helps to provide a fair comparison of candidates' scores.
- Shift Mean and Shift SD adjust the raw scores based on the session's difficulty.
- Overall Mean and Overall SD standardized scores across all sessions for fairness.
- This process ensures candidates' scores are comparable, regardless of the shift they appeared in.
Expected Marks vs Rank for IIT JAM 2025
Below is the expected analysis of marks versus rank for IIT JAM 2025, including the possible colleges candidates might be able to attend based on their rank.
- Candidates scoring between 85-90 marks are expected to achieve top 50 ranks, which would qualify them for top institutes like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, and IISc Bangalore.
- Those who score between 75-85 marks are expected to secure ranks in the range of 50-200 and may gain admission to well-regarded IITs such as IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.
- Candidates with scores below 35 are more likely to find admission in NITs and other CFTIs.
Marks | Expected Rank Range | Possible Colleges |
