- CBSE Class 10 English Syllabus is divided into three sections - Reading, Writing with Grammar, and Literature.
- The Literature section syllabus is divided into two books: First Flight and Footprints without Feet.
English Literature carries the maximum weightage of 40 marks out of the total 80 marks for the theory paper. Section A - Reading Skills
This section will include reading comprehension through unseen passages -
- Discursive passage (400-450 words) (10 Marks)
- Case-based factual passage (200-250 words) (10 Marks)
Section B - Writing Skills and Grammar
The syllabus of English grammar class 10 CBSE 2024-25 cover the following topics:
- Determiners
- Tenses
- Modals
- Subject-Verb Concord
- Reported Speech - commands and requests, statements, questions
The questions from the grammar section will constitute 10 marks. Students have to attempt 10 out of 12 questions.

- Analytical paragraph writing in 100-120 words on the given map/chart/graph/cues (Students have to attempt one out of two questions)

- One extract out of two from poetry
- Four out of five short answer questions (from First Flight)
- Two out of three short answer questions (from Footprints without Feet)
- One out of two long answer questions (from First Flight)
- One out of two long answer questions (from Footprints without Feet)
