The curriculum is a mixed bag. For some courses it is up to date encompassing latest developments in the area while for others it lacks current needs. The syllabus focuses mainly on core engineering aspects and unlike most private colleges IIEST doesn't teach coding unnecessarily to every branch to place them in IT.

The course curriculum is slightly out of date but all in all, it is as good as any Institute of National Importance can have. Exams are conducted twice a semester alongside some class tests and assignments whose difficulties are somewhat moderate

i would rate the course curriculum for 8 points out of 10. for the first two years the study was based on the theoretical approach and then in the third year comes the real-world applications of the theory that was prepared which makes you prepared for the real-world applications.

The curriculum is quite clean and neat for the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and structure is so beneficial for GATE students and students who are aspiring for Analog and Digital domains. Regarding the difficulty of the course - the course is quite difficult compared to other departments because ECE itself a difficult course and the grading system here is Absolute grading. So we have to get bare minimum marks to clear the subject.

Overall, the ECE program at IIEST Shibpur has a strong foundation. You'll get the core concepts of electronics, communication, and signal processing. They do touch on some industry stuff like VLSI and IoT, but it could be more in-depth to keep up with the latest tech. I like that you get some choice with electives. For real-world jobs, more hands-on projects and industry connections would be a big plus. If you're into research, IIEST Shibpur is a good place for that, but they could do more to get undergrads involved early on. Here's where I think it needs work: Keep it Current: Tech changes fast! They should update the courses more often with things like 5G, AI in telecom, etc. Teach Differently: Less lectures, more projects, and real-world examples would make it way better. Build Skills: Some focused training on what the industry actually uses – specific software, hardware skills – that would be gold! The exams are tough but fair – if you stay on top of things, you'll do alrigh

I had great interest in Circuit designing that is why I choose this course in IIEST Shibpur. The faculty is to students ratio is 1:7 in our institution. Faculty here are highly qualified. They have done phd from iits. Semester exams are held after every 2months.

As I am of 1year student. In this college, in the first year, all students study the same syllabus. It teaches departmental syllabus from 2 years and onwards. According to my experience, the faculty of this college is very good. Here exam takes time and it is easy to pass.

I choose this course because I am interested in electronics. I also read that in the upcoming years, India is going to manufacture semiconductor chips hence there will be an increase in demand for ECE engineers. It maintains a good faculty-to-student ratio. The faculties are highly qualified most of them have completed their Ph.D. from some prestigious IIT or even from IISC Bangalore many have also completed their studies from foreign universities. Exams are held twice a semester and they are not hard but the markings done are not as desired and there is no relative marking hence tough to maintain cgpa.

The curriculum is decent we have engineering, drawing, mechanics, physics, chemistry, English, sociology, professional ethics, maths, coding, and workshop in the first year and after that ie. In the second-year branch was curriculum is there which is uploaded. The faculty has been really helpful to us, they had immense knowledge about their subjects.
IIEST Shibpur placement for Electrical Engineering is good. Recruiters offering core job profiles usually offer an average CTC of around INR 5 LPA. Some of the major recruiters from the Electrical Engineering field that visit the campus placement frequently are Larsen and Toubro, CESE, Haldia Petrochemicals, etc.
Students from EE also get recruited in non-core profiles. These job profiles usually have higher pay structure.
IIEST, Shibpur formerly known as BESU is doing really well in all the departments. Whether it is about faculty or infrastructure it is growing steadily and gradually.
But as one wants to take a deeper look in comparing mechanical engineering, EE and ETC, let’s take a look on it:

Yes, you can change your branch from metallurgy to ECE after the 1st year. At IIEST Shibpur only 20% of students in each branch are given that choice except the architecture branch. There are the following conditions for changing branches:
Allocations are given on the basis of the above conditions and if there is a tie between two students then the tie is broken through the CGPA marks in physics, chemistry, and math. One who has the highest marks gets the seat.
