The course curriculum is great as this year onwards the syllabus is strictly oriented to course degree programme from first year onwards and students dont have to study other branch subjects in first year. The curriculum prepares well for real world applications and it has many great subjects and projects to do. There are two main exams, midsem and endsem and their difficulty level is from medium to very high.
Computer science is one of the most sort after after branch in the college due to its previous placement records.however coding culture on campus appears to be lacking in vitality. The faculties are well experienced

The curriculum is a bit slow compared to other colleges but gives an ample of time to master the topics which they taught . The private Colleges hurries and completes vast syllabus in less time with no perfection or retention. But in nit Calicut you get clarity of what you are doing if you put continuous effort and follow academic curriculum. It is very liberal . They won't take attentendance very seriously. Catch is , if you are not up to date in technology by yourself , you will be in lag because college curriculum won't be teaching advanced tech. Each semester, you can find common ideology /logic for each subjects (ex: top down approach in s6). For further studies , this curriculum builds a strong foundation and principles for continuous learning. But changes they need to adapt is that advanced and new productive stuff should be increased. Practical implementation principles ect should be improved. Exams usually contains 4-6 weeks gap (between end and mid sem )

I choose the CSE course because iam interested in the software development field. The present curiculum is good it provides with handful of real world projects and applications at the end of the course. If interested in deep diving we can go for further academic pursuits also.As for the improvement areas it would be better if they add the courses for trending technologies in the industrial market. The exams difficulty is medium,Teaching methods are based on attending lecturer.

Computer science and engineering is developing so fast these days. It would be much better to know about skills in cse and that is the reason i had taken this course. I selected NIT calicut because it is the top 5th nit when i joined and i felt his is so good.

I chose this course as there is a high scope in Computer Science and it's trending overall. Faculty: Student ratio is 1:50 overall. For labs, it varies as there are many Teaching Assistants to help you. Most of the faculties have their PhD and almost all faculties have their MTech at various IITs. Teaching methods are good for almost all lecturers and all the other issues are solved through Class committee meetings held by the Department through CRs.

1) I'm interested in CSE and the college is best for CSE. 2)some faculty is good but some or worst we can't depend on faculty teaching we have to learn from other platforms like YouTube etc.whole branch divide into 4 sections each section 50 students. 3) Qualification of faculty is PhD.and teaching according to the course plan 4) really tough more likely adavance exam

To be honest.I choose this course as it is the available course in top 5 NITs within my JEE cutoff rank. There are 1:5 faculty student ratio. All the faculty are well qualified in their respective courses.Term exams are divided into mid sem and end sem which are conducted in a span of 5 months and its not such difficult to get pass in term exams but its difficult to secure good grade and cgpa in exams

I took this course because I'm interested in electronics and stuff. So I wanted to pursue a degree in Electronics and communication engineering. the faculty here are very good and highly qualified. The gap between exams are about 2 months
NIT Calicut stands among the top NITs where you will get a lot of exposure to extracurricular activities. As it’s a government college, the fees will be relatively low as compared to private universities like VIT Vellore.
On the other hand, VIT Vellore isn’t that great institute plus being a private institute the fees is quite high for most middle-class students. If you choose Mechanical here then you can go for two different paths.
Categories | Mechanical at NIT Calicut | CSE at VIT Vellore |
Course Fee | 5.48 lakhs | 7.83 lakhs |
Highest CTC | 20 LPA | 20 LPA |
Average CTC | 9 LPA | 6-8 LPA |
Recruiting Companies | L&T, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Tata Motors, etc. | Flipkart, Oracle, HP, Dell, etc. |
At last, it all depends on your interest and caliber to do well on various career paths. However, if you are inclined towards CSE only then VIT is quite a good option because placements are pretty good there for CSE. Some of the major recruiters include PayPal, Microsoft, Amazon, Morgan Stanley, etc.
NIT Trichy is always considered superior to its counterparts and rightly so. The institute has a record of excellent placements, a competitive environment, and a highly learned faculty pool. NIT Calicut is well-known for its exceptionally good CSE department.
So, I think the decision of choosing between NIT Trichy ECE and NIT Calicut depends more on personal preferences than the institute. However you would like to consider the following points before making the final decision,
If you look at the overall picture, both colleges have excellent departments and offer similar opportunities, so the major determining criteria should be your branch preference. If you are interested in electronic systems and communication, go for NIT Trichy ECE but if you have an interest in programming NIT Calicut CSE is better for you.
The placement cell of NIT Calicut is good and is equal to other IITs. The non-Indian companies offer more than 28 LPA to freshers unlike the Indian companies. So there always remains a misunderstanding among candidates about the salary package offered. They used to think most of the companies offer a 40 LPA salary package, but these only include the companies in the US. Even Google India, Codenation, Directi offer not more than 24 LPA to the students. Based on these salary packages offered we can see that placements at NIT Calicut are really good.
In the following table, you will get the basic placement details of NIT Calicut.

NIT Calicut was consistent with a 99% placement record, offering students an average salary package of 8.5 LPA which gradually increased to 9-12 LPA. Most of the domestic companies do not pay a higher package than INR 28 LPA to freshers. Even MNCs located in India offer packages lower than INR 40 LPA. However, the placement cell of NIT Calicut is good. Almost all students got a placement through a college campus. So, don't just go by the statistics, also talk to ex-students of that college and you will get to know the original salary packages offered to them.
Therefore, you can join the CSE department of NIT Calicut as it has a good placement record.
CSE is the best branch at NIT Calicut for your B.Tech. It has the best placement record and highest packages among all the branches. The course structure is such that you will have plenty of free time at your disposal. There is less workload and fewer classes in CSE. The faculty is filled with experienced and supportive teachers.
You should visit the department’s website. Also check out the course curriculum and syllabi online to get a fair idea of the academics and what courses/books you will be studying.
If you want to pursue B.Tech CSE, you can definitely consider doing it from NIT Calicut.
I have a cousin who is currently working as a senior software engineer at Walmart. He is anex-student of IGDTUW. This alone negates all the claims of people stating IGDTUW is a below-average institute with poor infrastructure and zero placement opportunities. In fact, the first job he landed with campus placements was at Adobe. His juniors got placed in better companies like Google, Facebook, etc which speaks of the improving placement scenario.
Here is a comparative analysis of the placement scenario of these institutes

Its true that NIT Calicut may have an upper hand in terms of infrastructure, but in the long run, that does not really matter. A college can give you the wings to fly and it's on you how high you rise. Moreover, being a girl, you will have better opportunities in a girl's college like IGDTUW.
Yes, you will have to make small sacrifices like moving away from your home and adjusting to minimal facilities but in the end, it will be worth it!
The list should be something like this, and this is not a fixed one; it may vary year by year.
NIT Trichy>NIT Surathkal>NIT Warangal>MNNIT Allahabad>MNIT Jaipur /NIT Calicut>SVNIT Surat / NIT Nagpur>MANIT Bhopal / NIT Kurukshetra / NIT Rourkela>NIT Durgapur / NIT Jamshedpur>NIT Jalandhar/ NIT Delhi>NIT Raipur/ NIT Hamirpur.
I would like to suggest MNIT Jaipur.

CSE at MNIT Jaipur is a much better option than any core branch in the top 3 NITs - especially if your career plans are job-oriented and you want to work comfortably at least a few years right after you graduate.
The strength of any institute comes from its very own students. Students achieve and the institute flourishes. Students do their best and the institute counts.
So choice is yours. Take your time and make your decision on the basis of your instinct and where and how you see yourself in upcoming life.
Listed below are some facts which will help you to choose between these two colleges.
The table shows a brief overview of the institutions.

IIIT Allahabad has been ranked 10 for B.Tech by India Today 2020, 103 for B.Tech by NIRF 2020. Now choose the college based on the above facts and personal preferences.
NIT Surathkal IT is far superior to NIT Calicut. It is well-known in India for its CSE/IT branches. It is a highly regarded engineering college in India, and after four years of B.Tech college, the specific branch does not matter.
NITK outperforms Calicut in terms of reputation and placements. Furthermore, because of the higher cutoffs, the quality of students may be slightly higher here.
IT at NITK is nearly equivalent to CSE here. During placements, nearly all companies open to CS are open for IT as well.
Categories | IT at NITK | CSE at NITC |
Course fee | 5.40 lakhs | 5.42 lakhs |
Placement rate | 92% | 85% |
Average salary package | 8 LPA | 8.1 LPA |
Highest salary package | 35 LPA | 36 LPA |
The subjects taught and the syllabus in both departments are also similar. In fact, the IT department may be slightly better than the CS department in terms of facilities and infrastructure, as it is newer. Previously, the quality of students in CS was higher than in IT, but with significant increases in IT cutoffs, both are now equally good.
Choosing between CSE and ECE is a matter purely based on personal inclinations. While one branch may be good for you, it may not be for someone else, and vice versa.
However, in terms of both academics and placements, NIT Warangal clearly has the upper hand. NIT Warangal is among the top 3 NITs and is better than NIT Calicut in almost every aspect. Its laboratory facilities and faculty are among the best.

Although NIT Calicut has an edge in terms of the highest CTC, NIT Warangal's average package beats it. Average packages are a better means of evaluating the placement scenario, and that being said, NIT Warangal is a better option.
Among the colleges, choosing NIT Calicut for CSE will be a better option. The faculty of NIT Calicut is very talented and knowledgeable in their fields. They are very good at explaining the concepts and are also humble and helpful in nature.
The placements of this college are amazing. There are better companies visiting the campus for placements as compared to NIT Allahabad. There are a lot of other opportunities available too, especially for CS students. Here is a brief placement highlight for NIT Calicut.
If you want to pursue CSE, then NIT Calicut will be a very good college for you as the facilities for CSE are top-notch. You will also get good placement opportunities.
