Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants seeking admission to 4 year Full-time B.Tech Program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.

Academic Requirement:

Pass in Plus Two Examination of the State of Kerala or any other examination accepted as equivalent thereto with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as optional subjects securing a separate minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.

Central library have 260000 books, and also we have department wise libraries
We have fully air conditioned seminar halls and auditoriums

Dislikes

Lunch in hostel is not good,don’t have non veg option for lunch
In some departments there is old buildings and infrastructure

College promotes internships and faculties are supportive in this for our department According to seniors

No UPI payments in the soe store which is a little tough
Frequency of events have reduced this year than previous years due to a accident

I think in kerala most of the government colleges follow ktu curriculum , cusat curriculum is far better than ktu . internal exams here have a weightage of 30 percentage in end semester exam .our curriculum mainly focuses on object oriented programming they provide a better view for us I think they need to add industrial visit in this college .they removed it some years ago which is very disappointing

The first i liked was that my college was easily accessible for me to reach out as it is just 20 km from my home.
The college has highly qualified faculties.

Dislikes

Doesn't get good placement offers. The average is from 3.5 to 5 lpa max.
The quality of infrastructure is not of top class. Just an average with basic labs and workshops.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because i had more interest in computer science. The college curriculum doesn't prepare us for real world applications. It just for scoring in exams and getting the degree. We will only get the basics of every aspects in computer science. There will be two series or internal exam and one semester or external exam in each semester with total 8 semesters each including average average 6 papers and two practical labs.

Our institute is the best in terms of research, and the faculties are industry leaders. Mostly, the days are hectic, but the weekend is chill as we get Saturday and Sunday off, which helps us to take a break from this schedule.
The fee is fairly low compared to any college in India. I havent yet applied for scholarships, but there are some available if needed based on your CPI.

Dislikes

Many assignments are given causing some days to be very hectic.
The mess food is not good and sometimes doesn't feel like eating

The course curriculum is vast which is a mix of research-driven and fair. It helps me you structure the pattern that leads me to learn the things required for the future. Helps me to learn things which are further may be required in work. The best thing is the courses are still updated.

Great faculty who supports you , atleast that's how it is in the IT department
Placements are decent but don't expect any crazy level packages.

Dislikes

It's too damn hot in the classes especially during summer.
Some of the first year faculty are very bad but they're only for first year.

?There are two or three profressors holding actual PhDs in every department which is rare in ktu colleges. ?Teachers in our department are very approachable, even our hod is friendly which is good because you can approach her if you want something done without worry

This course offers many placement opportunities. 80 percent of students get placement every year. Many top companies come for placement recruitment. Companies like Wipro, Infosys, TCS, etc. are the top recruiters. Exam patterns are easy it reduce our difficulty. Their pattern is easy to score good mark.

course curriculum would be the best i have to say because it seems so relevent for me,because as an IT student it does not make sense for me to study mechanics and civil and all other stuff,so what we have in 1st sem is like programming ,digital electronics etc.. so it makes sense that this is relevent. facualty is very average and some not well experianced to be honest and some are really good. exams are not so difficult but the exams are taking place in a fast pace, its like exams after exams.

Good campus life.Due to the large number of students and amazing college fests you can have a nice college life.
Great placements.The placements in main branches like cs/it/ece fire and safety are good.

Dislikes

Involvment of political partiesin in the campus.Strikes are common in cusat.
Teaching is just average or above average

Course Curriculum Overview:

As compared to all other course curriculums in kerala(KTU),Cusat curriculum is more relevant and in-depth.All the courses are NBA accredited and it therefore shows the value of the course certificate from cusat.Also the courses come under tier-1 category which helps more in the placements part.Cusat is the only university with tier-1 accreditation after NIT Calicut.Syllabus may be a bit tough compared to ktu,but has got more value than ktu degree.The semester exams can be passed if the student has got a decent marks in the internals which includes the marks obtained for the two internal exams,assignments and attendance.The difficultly of the paper can be said moderate since only very few questions come under hard category.A student who knows the track of pyqs can easily pass the exams.

How is CUSAT IT branch for placement?

CUSAT placement is good for the IT branch. Most of the recruiting companies perticiating in the placement drive are from IT sector. As a student of the IT branch, you will be eligible to sit for almost all the visiting IT companies provided you have the required CGPA. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC received by the students of IT branch is around INR 4.7 LPA.

Which is better at CUSAT, IT or EC?

Both the options are good. There is no such difference in the quality of education, either in these two branches, or any other branch in CUSAT.

They make you work hard, focus on every detail, and stress a lot on the practical classes and labs.

As for the faculty, 85% are permanent. As for the quality of faculty, everyone will have a different view. According to my friends at CUSAT, the only difference you will find between the branches is that the EC people toil 3 times harder than the other branches.

According to the overall placement statistics the average and highest CTC offered to the students is 4 LPA and 15 LPA.

You should choose the branch that is better for you. Think about the branch where your interest lies, will you be able to manage the workload efficiently, does the subject interest you, or which branch has the better placements matter. However, I would like to advise you not to be bothered by placements any more.

In Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) engineering is offered by SOE (Kochi) whereas in CUCEK engineering is offered by (Alappuzha). Having friends studying in both the colleges, I can say that they are equally good.

When it comes to the IT sector CUSAT introduced IT in India and is considered a pioneer for the IT sector.
The IT branch is well facilitated in both CUCEK and SOE and is considered a good course to opt for here.
Both the institutes are well established and have created a name for them.
Faculties in both are well trained with a lot of experience.
Both of them have world-class labs with the latest equipment and technologies to equip students with the latest inventions.
Placements are also good for IT. Mostly they get placed in the southern region of the country like in Bangalore, Hyderabad and etc with good packages.
