About RIT
RIT Kottayam started functioning in 1991 and is run by the government of Kerala. With well-qualified teachers and vast infrastructure, it has established itself as a premier institution and became the leading technical institute in Kerala. Candidates need to apply for KEAM and NATA to take admission in B.Tech. and B.Arch programs respectively. GATE score is needed for admission in a postgraduate course, there is a separate entrance test for MCA Course.

Admissions for undergraduates are provided to the institute through various entrance tests. Undergraduate courses are provided admission through the NATA or KEAM tests, while the GATE entrance exam is considered for postgraduate admissions.

The college has a placement and careers department. The placement cell looks after building up the soft skills required along with the hard skills learned through the course. The total number of candidates who were offered placements in the ongoing sessions in 2018-19 were 196.
Recruiters who came to campus included Nissan Digital, Litmus7, Dexlock, TCS, QUEST, Oracle, Experian, Carestack, along with many others. The highest package offered during campus interviews is INR 1,720,000 while the average package is around INR 300,000. Throughout 2018 and 2019, Suntech and Tata Project Limited have been the highest recruiters in campus interviews with 33% and 20% of candidate absorptions, respectively. The highest placements happened in Information Technology, Operations, and Business Development.

RIT Kottayam Kottayam Scholarship
The college has created a concept of e-Grantz which is applicable for every student. e-Grantz is facilitated by the state government of Kerala. There are MCM scholarships, e-Grantz, and the KPCR scholarship.
- MCM Scholarship: This scholarship can be availed by all students. Class 10th, 12th mark sheet, and parental income certificate are needed to avail of this scholarship.
- e-Grantz: This scholarship is also there for students and can be availed. It provides about 16k rupees to students.
- KPCR Scholarship: SEBC students of Govt/Aided institutions & Self-financing engineering courses only – Fees are provided at par with government rate.

Some of the facilities provided by the college for the students are enumerated below:
- Library: Library is a big star-shaped building furnished with all computerized methodology where one can even take online references. There is a separate book bank for students of SC/ST. The library is spread over 822 square meters. It also has 2030 e-books.
- Central Computing Facility: There are numerous computers with LAN and standalone PC’s in this building. Software like Matlab, Stad Pro, etc are available there in the PCs, and internet connection is provided all over the campus through here only.
- Hostel: Hostel facility is also there and students can opt for hostel facility too. There are two ladies’ hostels and one for men. Ladies hostel can accommodate up to 280 students while the men’s hostel accommodates up to 107 students.
- Canteen: A functioning canteen is there on the campus. Separate space for students and staff is there on the campus. A separate cafeteria is also present.
- Auditorium: A mini-auditorium is also constructed.

College faculty are Ph.D. holders and there are HOD for every department. There is a council of members for looking after college, academics, and hostels. There are about 5 faculties per 100 students.

- The campus has good infrastructure, and the lab facilities are awesome. We have hostel facilities for both girls and boys.
- There is an option for an internship, and I think it has been made compulsory in the new curriculum.
Dislikes
- During our 4th year, we need to find ourselves a firm to work with by showing up our resumes and portfolios.
- I have no idea about the loan facility provided by the college, but I dont think there is one.

I had appeared for all Kerala mca entrance examinations conducted by lbs academy. The eligibility of the course is any bachelor's degree with maths as a subject. we can get the application form details from the website of lbs site. there is a proper amount of reservation that can be understood by reading prospects.it is comparatively a simple exam and candidates with proper computer knowledge can crack it.

I got admission to RIT based on the marks obtained in btech and the rank list prepared by the Directorate of Technical Education Kerala. so we have to apply for mtech on their site and the rank list is published based on our GATE score and Btech cgpa based on our rank they will allow us particular college based on our options chosen. it's all done by the directorate of technical education and after allotment, we can confirm the seat by paying the fees.

I wrote keam(Kerala engineering and medical) to enter into the government engineering colleges in Kerala. Admission processes in keam are very lengthy and confusing. The cut-off for mechanical engineering in rit is around 15000.
