Important Topics in Class 6 Maths Chapter 5

Class 6 Maths Chapter 5 covers the following important concepts –

  • An angle is formed of any two rays having the same endpoint or starting point.

Based on the degree, an angle can be classified into –

- Acute angle: When the measure of an angle is less than a right angle, it is known as an acute angle.
- Obtuse angle: When the measure of an angle is more than a right angle but less than a straight angle, it is known as an obtuse angle.
- Reflex angle: When the measure of an angle is more than a straight angle, it is known as a reflex angle.

  • A triangle is a closed figure with three sides and three interior angles.

On the basis of the sides, triangles can be classified as scalene triangles, isosceles triangles, and equilateral triangles.

  • Polygons are closed geometric shapes that have at least 3 angles and 3 sides.

Based on the number of sides, a polygon can be classified into multiple types – triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, etc.

  • three-dimensional shape (3D shape) is an object that can be measured in three directions i.e. length, breadth, and height.

Examples of 3D shapes are cylinders, cubes, spheres, cuboids, etc.
