Important Topics in Class 6 Maths Chapter 10

Class 6 Maths Chapter 10 Mensuration cover important concepts which are as discussed below –

  • Mensuration is the branch of maths that deals with the measurement of length, volume, or area of various geometric shapes

A shape is the form of an object. Examples of 2-D shapes are square, triangle, rectangle and three-dimensional shapes such as cube, cuboid and sphere.
  •  Perimeter is the total distance or total length covered along the boundary of a closed shape.

Perimeter of triangle = Sum of lengths of all sides = a + b + c.

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2× [length ( l ) + width (w)]

Perimeter of square = 4 × length of a side

Perimeter of n sided polygon = n × length of one side.

  • Area is the total amount of surface that is enclosed by a closed figure.

Area of a square = Side × Side = a2

 Area of Rectangle = length ( l ) × breadth ( b)

Area of Triangle = (1/2) × b × h
