Important Topics in Class 6 Maths Chapter 4
Class 6 Maths Chapter 4 Basic Geometrical Ideas has a number of important concepts of Geometry which are as given below –
-
Line Segment is the shortest distance that exists between two points.
A line can be obtained by extending a line segment infinitely on both sides. |
-
A polygon is a closed curve that is made up of line segments.
There are different types of polygons like triangles (with 3 line segments), quadrilaterals (with 4 line segments), pentagons (with 5 line segments), and so on. |
-
A triangle is a polygon with three line segments or sides.
A given triangle ABC can be represented as \(\begin{array}{l}\triangle ABC\end{array}\) |
- A quadrilateral is a four-sided polygon made up of 4 line segments or sides and therefore, 4 angles.
The vertices of a given quadrilateral are named in a cyclic manner. |
- A circle is a closed figure that is formed by a set of points in a given plane that is located at the same distance from a fixed point which is known as the centre.
The fixed distance at which the points in a plane are located from the centre is known as the radius. |
