JEE Advanced 2021 Paper 1 Analysis

Mathematics was a bit time consuming with maximum questions from calculus and geometry. Chemistry was the easiest of all the sections with a majority of questions from organic chemistry. Students have reported that the questions with one correct option were easier than those with multiple correct answers. JEE Advanced 2021 Paper 2 Analysis 

JEE Advanced 2021 Paper 2 is being held from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. The exam analysis for the same has been updated here based on the student's reactions for your reference.

• The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate.
• Physics was the toughest section with topics like Mechanics, thermodynamics, and gravitation having maximum weightage.
• Questions in Mathematics were of moderate level but lengthy. Calculus and Geometry dominated this section.
• Chemistry was comparatively easier and the one-choice questions were easy. Some of the important topics asked in this section included organic chemistry, aldehydes, p-block elements, and atomic structure.

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2020

• JEE Advanced Paper 1 was conducted from 9.00 AM to 12.00 Noon.
• As per the initial reaction of the test takers paper was moderate to difficult in terms of difficulty level.
• The Chemistry section was observed as the easiest of the three sections as expected.
• Mathematics was found to be highly time consuming and moderate in terms of level of difficulty.
• Physics was labelled as the toughest section by most of the test takers.
• In maths, questions from algebra and calculus were difficult.
• Questions were mostly from chapters like rotation, work power energy, magnetism and thermodynamics in Physics.

JEE Advanced 2020 Paper 2 Analysis

• Paper 2 of JEE Advanced 2020 was conducted from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM.
• Mathematics and Physics were both found to be difficult in terms of calculations and time management.
• Chemistry questions mostly followed the NCERT pattern.
• IIT Delhi has raised the total marks of JEE Advanced 2020 to 396 (198 for each Paper 1 and Paper 2).

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2019

Among 2.45 lakh qualified candidates, 1,61,319 candidates appeared for JEE Advanced 2019. As per the candidates who appeared for the examination,

• Mathematics section was the most robust among all. The questions asked in the mathematics section were lengthy and took longer to solve.
• Chemistry section was relatively more.
• Physics section was moderately tough.
• The overall difficulty of the paper was as expected.

Section-wise analysis of JEE Advanced 2019

The major change found in the paper pattern this year was the absence of paragraph-based questions. The overall difficulty level of Paper 1 was more as compared to Paper 2. According to the expert's analysis, the overall difficulty of both the papers was moderate. Both the papers required good time management skills. It is expected that JEE Advanced Cutoff for the general category may vary from 127-142 from a total of 372 marks for admission in IITs.

As per students’ reactions, Paper 2 was found to be tough as compared to Paper 1. Mathematics in Paper 2 was the most challenging section to solve, while in Paper 1, Physics was the difficult one. At some centers in Bangalore, Paper 2 was postponed till 4 pm. Unlike last year, students will neither get the copy of question paper nor the copy of the response sheet. JEE Advanced Exam Pattern is not fixed, this year too, some changes were observed in the paper pattern. This exam is considered as one of, if not the toughest to crack in India. Subject weightage, marking schemes, question formats and even total marks are unknown variables in this exam.

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2018

The Paper Analysis for JEE Advanced 2018 question papers is given below:

JEE Advanced Paper 1 Analysis

• Physics was complicated while Mathematics and Chemistry were comparatively easy. 
• The level of difficulty in Paper 1 was marked moderate with maximum weightage given to class 12 syllabus.
• No mistakes in the question paper were reported.
• Questions based on Numericals and Conic sections had troubled most of the test takers.
• Generally, in Numerical Type Answers, the answer is usually given in digits (0 – 9) but this time, applicants were asked to give answers with decimal points.
• There were not many theoretical based questions in Chemistry. And some questions had a lot of calculations.

JEE Advanced Paper 2 Analysis

• Mathematics was tough. Presence of Matrices based questions made it lengthy.
• Physics and Chemistry sections were comparatively easy.
• Questions based on Integration were more in number as compared to 2017.
• According to experts, the CRL may go around 125.
• Many students found the difficulty of the paper as moderate.
• No mistakes were reported in the question paper.
• The total number of questions in JEE Advanced Paper 2 has remained the same but the maximum marks changed to 180 from 183.
• As compared to Paper 1, Paper 2 was relatively difficult.

JEE Advanced Paper Analysis 2017

The following section defines the JEE Advanced Paper Analysis for 2017. 

JEE Advanced 2017 was held on May 21, 2017 at various centers across the country. 

• There is no set examination pattern for JEE Advanced and most of the questions were more subjective or analytical.
• Last year, both Paper I and Paper II were of 186 marks each, this year Paper I and Paper II were conducted for a total of 183 marks each. Thus, the total for JEE Advanced 2017 including Paper I and Paper II is 366 marks.

Paper-1 Analysis

Paper 1 was found to be moderately difficult. The examination was conceived as easier when compared to last year.

• Multiple-correct choice questions award students with 4 marks for fully correct answers, 1 mark for partially correct answers and deducted 2 marks for incorrect answers.
• Integer type questions awarded students with 3 marks for each correct answer, with no negative marking. Passage type single choice questions awarded students 3 marks for each correct answer and deducted 1 mark for each incorrect one. The paper was worth a total of 183 marks.

Thus, the exam consisted of 21 multiple correct choice questions that constituted 84 marks of the examination, 15 integer type questions made up 45 marks and 18 passage type questions made up 54 marks.

Paper-2 Analysis

• Paper 2 was found to be relatively easy compared to last year.
• It was comparatively easier than Paper 1. Single choice questions awarded students 3 marks for the correct answer and docked 1 mark for the incorrect one
• Passage category single choice questions reward the students with 3 marks for the correct choice, with no negative marks.
• 21 single choice questions constituted 63 marks, 21 multiple correct choice questions constituted 84 marks, and 12 passage type single choice questions made up 36 marks.

Physics Analysis

Physics section of paper-1 was moderately difficult. Questions included in Physics were a mix of conceptual and formula-based. Mentioned below is the chapter wise weightage of Paper-1 Physics section.

Maximum questions were asked from Electromagnetic Induction and Modern Physics.

Physics was considered to be moderate in difficulty. Compared to last year though, it was relatively easier. A majority of the questions were conceptual and needed students to be strong with basics. This year, 18 questions were asked from 12 chapters. Following is the analysis of chapter wise marking scheme as well as the number of questions:

Chemistry Analysis

Chemistry was moderately difficult. Compared to last year though, it was conceived to be slightly tougher. This exam had a mix of conceptual and calculation-based questions. Following is the analysis of chapter wise marking scheme as well as the number of questions:

• There were 3 questions of 9 marks from Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids.
• There were 3 questions of 9 marks from Chemical Bonding.
• There was 1 question of 3 marks from Atomic Structure.
• There were 2 questions of 7 marks from Organic Chemistry.
• There was 1 question of 3 marks from Solid State.
• There was 1 question of 3 marks from Coordination Compounds.
• There was 1 question of 3 marks from Electrochemistry.
• There were 2 questions of 8 marks from P-Block Elements.
• There was 1 question of 4 marks from Thermodynamics.
• There were 2 questions of 8 marks from Hydrocarbons.
• There was 1 question of 4 marks.

Thus, there were 18 questions of 61 marks. Above weightage is for Chemistry Paper 1 of JEE Advanced 2017. Chemistry Paper 2 was relatively easy as compared to Paper 1, especially compared to last year. Questions coming from this topic were a combination of conceptual and formula-based.
