How can international candidates apply to St Xaviers Kolkata?

The admission to the international students at SXUK will be given at the beginning of every Academic Year and from the beginning of the course. Currently, St. Xaviers University, Kolkata (SXUK) does not have the facility of lateral entry or admission in the middle of any course. However, provision of lateral entry or admission in the middle of any course may be made under an Exchange Programme which is covered by special collaborative arrangements between SXUK and any Foreign University or Institution. Foreign nationals, PIO card holders, OCI and NRI students can apply under the category of international students.

St. Xaviers University strictly follows its admission rules for MSW courses. Admission is given only based on merit in the entrance test. The university does not entertain direct admission for MSW courses without a score on the universitys entrance test.

Alumni say that it all depends on what you choose to study at SXUK. There could be better colleges than SXUK Kolkata, but there is top notch faculty there. If you are serious about your course, their knowledge and experience will make you fall in love with your subject. Even on the co-curricular front, it gives you ample opportunities to excel if you have the interest. There are different clubs and societies for numerous interests. Also, you are surrounded by brilliant minds as your friends so that's a bonus.

How are MBA placements at St Xavier's University Kolkata?

Alumni report that the management at St Xavier's Kolkata told them to not choose HR as a specialisation, as they won't have enough jobs and they won't be responsible for placements. Placements for MBA are pathetic. The big companies like Deloitte, and EY hire students in roles which don't need MBA graduates. The placement officer threatens students and is extremely impolite. The placement cell indulges in malpractices like showing companies which haven't hired a single student in placement brochures. MBA students appear in the same pool placements with BCom, Eco Hons, Eco M.A, BMS students though they pay three times more money and have to pay the compulsory hostel fee. For management education, you'll get the same placement for much lower fees in Kolkata.

The alumni of this very institution are placed at top company and firms like deloitte,kpmg,ey etc
The faculty is quite good and the library is filled to the brim with books. most members of the faculty are very friendly and always ready to help students with doubts.

Canteen food horrible in taste no chips no chocolates no cheese no butter no options very bad
There was very poor coordination among the administration and faculty. Sometimes the adminstration didn't even think of the students.
Attendance not giving for events if no attendance they debar the students without any rehem

The best and brief review of St Xaviers University Newtown Kolkata

Lots of events and fests are conducted throughout, there is one main fest Xavrang and all dept fests and several Society fests all year round and as a musician personally it is a very good opportunity to grow and connect with likeminded individuals.
The Institute runs on a no ragging and no politics polocy and people there actually see no ragging nor any political stand offs
There are several fast food and entertainment spots around 5kms of the college both cheap and expensive which are a breather for us.

Dislikes

75% attendance must be maintained till the end sem exams or the candidate is debarred and have to re register next year with the same registration fee, medical issues are often not considered.
They randomly introduce 500 or 1000 fee claiming to enhance the learning experience and the students are required to pay it within a short notice.
The security guards are very rude and also the college only allows coller Tshirts no round necks

The students become eligble after they enter their honnors year from 6 to 8 sem where our placement cell conducts several induction classes for the batch, sxuk also has 100% sometimes being a recently established college it has a very good track record with companies and media houses our highest package being 26lpa and average 8lpa my plan is to persue PR as a career and also do masters abrod or out of city

St xaviers: a dream University

The campus of my college is very much beautiful and I love to go daily with my friends since I experience new things regularly on the way I will very much happy to be here send the faculties are very helpful over here
The faculty over here is very helpful and have a friendly nature
They help us in every possible way in relationship study matters and in day to day life also

Dislikes

It is very far from my home so I have a regular expensive travel cost
The food in our canteen is not very much well and must get improve
The football ground need maintenance but is very rarely maintain

Placements provided by college is good but salary package are not up to average

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college campus is 6/10 as because according to our seniors , the placements cells will not assure to get you secured placements after our completion of course . Aslo the companies which come to our college to take fresher are not big companies , few companies come each year. A stuents becomes eligible for placements after completing 3rd year . The details for companies are not known by me till now . My prans after getting passed out is to find jobs by myself or get into my business

Everything about Xavier's Law School

Campus Infrastructure it includes gym, games room, hostel, sports field , etc
Faculties are friendly and their teaching way is easy to.

College timings its 10 Am to 4 or 5 pm. It takes almost your whole day

Placements are good. A lot of law firms and company coke to campus for placement drive. Maximum percentage of students got the placement. Highest package was 7 LPA. After degree one can go for master degree or law practice or corporate job.

St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata , a dream come true.

Likes

The faculty in the college is great, from concept clarity to doubt solving , unlike most of the colleges , the professors are willing to give their time to students as much as they need.
The courses in the college are structured in a way which helps the students to visualise and enjoy the process of learning, even the theoretical parts are made interesting by taking real life cases and examples.
Ther are lots of events that happen in the college , and the annual fest, the XAVOTSAV , is the biggest highlight for every year. So, even the extra curricular activities are sorted for a student. Hence you can live college life at it's best.

Dislikes

There are few rules like boys cannot wear round neck t shirts, girls cannot wear too short dresses and many more.
The college is often criticized for it's strict attendance rules of 75% attendance compulsory to sit in the semester exams.
The B.Com (Morning) course is an only boys batch but the day classes and evening classes are co-ed, so the college should consider making b.com morning all a co-ed course as after 10 am the students have almost a whole day to day anything the want.

Placement Experience:

The college's placements have been great since the past few years, as the highest packages going upto 23-24 lakhs and the average packages being 8-9 lakhs. Many companies like Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, IBM, EY, Dabur , Godrej etc. come every year for recruitment in the college. The students become eligible for campus placements from the final year of their course, however this may vary for different courses.

Likes

The environment which is fabulous for learning and engaging in activities.
Faculty is really helpful and engaging giving us opportunities to learn more.
Placement office is really active in giving the best students the best jobs.

Dislikes

The dean of our department is not really helpful.
Round neck T-shirts are not allowed on college campus for boys but it's allowed for women.
Transport is a major issue as it it is in the outskirts of kolkata.

I really liked the outcome of the course which is specialization in your particular field and the opportunities it opens up for me, i wanted to learn photography so i joined this university and opted for this course but it has opened many other ways for me too.

All the faculty members are extremely helpful and supportive.
The college is very inclusive and welcoming towards students belonging from different backgrounds.
The student council is quite engaging. There are several opportunities for pursuing extra curricular activities.

Dislikes

The college is quite strict when it comes to the dress code, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is extremely interesting and engaging. The professors make it even more fun to learn. The learning experience is not merely just a textbook one, we also get to learn about how to deal with the real-world problems. The exams are held quite close to each other which it makes the curriculum a bit difficult to handle but nevertheless the professors are always present to clear out any doubt that we might have!

St. Xavier's University - One of a kind in Kolkata

Likes

Campus, the college has a pretty well established campus with highly advanced classrooms and labs and a good infrastructure for students.
Culture, the high approach towards academic success and discipline followed by the college is incomparable.
Highly qualified and well behaved teachers, who are always available to help the students whenever they need them.

Dislikes

The surroundings, because of being situated in a under development area, there are not much resources around the college. Mostly the places are being build and are currently barren.
The intense pressure on attendance, students are sometimes forced to maintain a high attendance in order to appear for the exams, which being a student of mass communication causes some problem to me atleast.
Not so happening, the college has a grand annual event but apart from it there are not much happening in the college.

Placement Experience:

you are given summer internships from semester 4, however for campus placements one must wait untill the final year, which for the new UGC batches will be semester 7 and 8. Several companies visit to hire students and take them onboard.

The msot appreciative thing about my college is the environment and the events which takes place from day to day.
The boy is to girls ration is almost the same.
All the faculty members are very well in their job.

The improvement in the course I feel like it should consist of more real life based rather more practical concepts. Which we require from our day to day activity. According to me this course is something new and a new concept not available in many of the colleges.
