The faculty is good over here, mostly. Some are really good, some are average. The thing is one day a great professor will come in and teach who makes the whole topic interesting but next day its someone else who is not that great. Exams are easy. Internals and Practicals both MCQ based. Semester 1 theory exams are theoratical.

Campus Life:

One great thing about DU SOL is that, the seniors are great. They are very helpful and understanding. They also organized a freshers party. DU SOL had a freshers party. They organize such things to make their students feel good and the students are doing this for each other. It is great.

There are around 9 to 10 professors in the Psychology Department and around 70 to 75 students in the batch. There are definitely some professors that will go out of their way to gteach, taking extra classes, teaching from real life examples and having presentations and journal reading sessions. But i wont deny the fact that there are certain professors who are simply lazy r=to take the class, who do not mauntain the regularity of the classes leading to which its the students' loss and even not takng internal assessment tasks and then giving random marks. Still, according to me there are more good professors than the lazy ones!

Course Curriculum Overview:

PSYCHOLOGY can never be "out-of-relevance". The course is actually very relevant in todays time. I guess eacj andd every one should have the knowledge about the HUMAN PSYCHE in order to function to our full potential. The course is comprehensive and also very doable at the same time as there are not many things to take care of its just exams and practicals that needs to be dealt with.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was studying psychology. I must say it is more of a practical based exam in this college it was done in a very efficient way we have a lot of exposure to the practical side of the subject and it is a very good thing other than this the faculty members were very experienced and we can have a deep knowledge of the theory part as well there are subjects like sec and vac which are most related to the real world application Talking about teaching methods teachers are very kind and helpful they will change their methods according to students how they won't them to teach. I remember once I told my teacher that I am not able to grab things in oral method so switched it to bored and marker and PPT style. Talking about frequent timing of exams you can say a semester is around 5 months in which the fifth month is designated to the exams you can save for 8 or 10 days it is mostly practical exams and then for the restaurants there are theory exams. The exam time for 3 hours were given three writer exams in this all. we were also given a plenty of holidays like 23 or 4 for preparation so its also good thing.

Campus Life:

Campus life is moderate the the coal is campus is not so big but it is enough to enjoy because it is not the college it is the social status or I can see social groups oo friend groups what makes your college experience great. Talking about the social expected club involvement there are a lot of clubs and societies in college I must that 24 or 25 around clubs and societies and you have a chance to get a lot of exposure from the societies. I was also part of psychology department society which is Psych and it is so fun we use to organised events freshers parties farewell parties and all and annual day functions also so talking about a social status it is very good infrastructure is also good they there is everything present for the students to live a healthy and comfortable experience.

So basically the fees structure is very easy. Their is no additional fees for anything just a tution fees of about 11000 rupees plus about 1000 for security deposit in the first year after that a constant fees of approx 12000 for both the rest of 2 years. This fees is for the genral category students not for the reservation one. The fees for students with reservation is less as compaired to their categories plus their is a very small amount to be paied for the pwd category.

Faculty:

Course Curriculum Overview:

Psychology as a field is very dynamic and intersting. I would suggest taking up this course if you want to understand human behaviour and all it's complexities. The exam structure: Internal exam for 20 marks. There are a total of 2 internal exams, out of which the first is compulsory to attempt. If you happen to not quality, or miss the exam for any serious reason, you will be permitted to sit for the second one. Division - 5ques for 2 marks (all compulsory) , 3 ques for 5 marks (out of which 2 are to be attempted). External/Semester examination is for 70 marks. Division - 10ques for 2mrks (all), 10ques for 5mrks (attempt 5). The rest of the 10 marks are for assignments and class presentations. The exams are fairly easy if you're a regular student and you also ensure that you study the course material well. Ps: The BA course alone is not enough to secure your understanding and proficiency in the subject so consider persuing it for Master's as well.

Faculty:

The college faculty is very well versed in their fields of education. They are all quite warm and welcoming, as well as willing to co-operate with the students to increase the class efficiency. All the professors in the department, including the new HOD ma'am are great teachers as well as mentors. There are a total of 3 examination throughout the semester. 2 internal exams, out of which 1 is compulsory. (for 20 marks) One External or Semester Exam for 70 marks. The remaining 10 marks are for assignments. The exams are fairly easy if you're attentive in class and take notes.

Faculty:

The faculty in my department which is the psychology department are really friendly and approachable. Not everyone but most of them are like this. Dr. Soma Pramanik, Dr. jhilly Das (Tewary), Dr. Moumita Mukherjee are the best faculties according to me in this department because they are very empathetic, friendly and approachable and they also teach concepts very clearly. I didn't like Dr. Anurupa Kundu as I find her not that approachable and also I had a hard time getting used to her teaching. There are 2 exams taken the first one is the Continuous Internal Assessment which is of 30 marks which is scaled down to 10 marks and the other one is the end semester examinations which is of 80 marks the other 20 marks basically consists of presentations and class discipline. Not many students fail to clear the exams atleast from my department. Our course which is BA Psychology is really relevant in the university.

Otherwise, there are events happening almost every day organised by the 50+ student run clubs at flame.

Faculty:

The faculty to student ratio depends on the course. In the first year at FLAME, students are expected to choose various courses to try and explore all the fields and subjects. Some courses dont have any exams and only have assignments. Most of the science and math courses have practicals and exams. A lot of the courses however have exams. The exams are not hard to pass considering the teachers teach really well and they give us the appropriate material to learn from as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I've always liked psychology since the day i took the subject in class 11-12. I was very determined to persue psychology in my graduation as well as masters. The curriculum convinced me more to study this subject and know more about it. The curriculum involves all the aspects including it's applications in the real world. I personally don't think they should make much changes to the curriculum.

Faculty:

The faculty to student ration is worth appreciating. They have enough professors and they are quite approachable as well. Personally the psychology is really amazing and all of them are well qualified. My fav is our basic psychology professor M.D. ma'am. I like the way she teaches and at the same time keeps the class interactive. Personally the course curriculum is quite relevant.

Ques. Which is better for BA in psychology- Jai Hind or St. Xavier College Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Supriyo Sen on 19 Jan 21

Ans. Among the two institutes mentioned, St.Xavier College, Mumbai is better for a BA in psychology.  The table below will give you a brief overview of the two colleges. Parameters Jai Hind St.Xavier College Fee structure INR 16,200 (for 3 years) Rs 17,625 (for 3 years) Placement rate (2020) - >90% Average salary package (2020) 3 LPA 6.5 LPA Comparison:  Both the institutes provide good learning opportunities, but the difference is St. Xavier is autonomous and hence better. As St. Xaviers is autonomous, it can update the syllabus anytime, if needed. While Jai Hind is affiliated with MU and follows the same syllabus as MU. Which may not be updated.  Xavier’s also conducts its own examinations. So any problem caused in the result published by MU will not affect the students of Xaviers.  Like any other autonomous institute, Xaviers also publishes its results first. So, students get the first preference for a job.  While containing a degree from MU through Jai Hind is quite convenient since university and college will both have a set of mark sheets. From the academic point of view, St. Xaviers College is better than Jai Hind College Mumbai.Read more
