The college placement rate is excellent. In just five years since its founding, the college has become well-known for its placement quality. The college faculty is extremely skilled, with each member having extensive industrial experience. The committee was successful in attracting over 90 firms to the college placement drive, with the college's top placement offer being over 40 LPA and the average wage offer being around 14 LPA.
The college placement is as per IITs. The college placement committee plays a very crucial role as the college is new and the committee is well aware that if they want to compete with other IITs they have to work on placements standards. The committee was successful in inviting a good number of companies and market leaders. The placement committee fully guided us during the placement process. The highest package for our batch was around 30 LPA and the average package was around 14 LPA. 80+ companies visited our campus during the college placement drive.
IIT Palakkad is from the new tier of IITs. I got in touch with the female students and Professors through the Jee Helpdesk. I asked them, why they joined this place. I was scared that I won't get good experience as it's one of the new IITs. Their answers and their youtube page confirmed that they have a lot of opportunities for students. After the result of Jee advanced, I enroll myself with JOSAA website. On the website, I have to fill up my list of preferences which involved College Name and the course. Before IIT Palakkad - Electrical Engineering, I had IIT Dhanbad - Electronics Engineering. After that, I had lined up Electrical Engineering at other new IITs. My name reason to choose IIT Palakkad over those was because through the pictures and news available at the college website, campus looked well established and very beautiful.I have spent four years studying in IIT Palakkad and it has completely transformed me. When you're studying for JEE Mains or Advanced, sometimes you give up your hobbies or maybe everything and focus on studies. This place gave me a chance to rewrite myself, nurture my talents. I am a part of the technical clubs, the annual techno-cultural fest and manage my studies. If I chose an old well established IIT, I might have never got these many chances to explore. In terms of academics, I am so glad that I chose the Department of Electrical Engineering here because they have such vast variety of courses to choose from and it has been so much easier to work in interdisciplinary fields like Robotics. I got to work on projects with brilliant professors from different streams as well.
I have a passion for space tech and electrodynamics. This made me prioritise on Electrical Engineering branch. The EE Department of IIT Palakkad has good faculty mentors who can guide you in a research-orientated way. Apart from that, it is closer to my hometown than the rest of the 3rd generation IITs. This made to conclude on IIT Palakkad as the first choice. The admission process is conducted by Josaa. For the freshers, the usual admission date will be during the last week of July and the orientation programme will be starting from the 1st week of August(not applicable to online sem).
I chose this college because I was allotted this college according to my rank in the joint entrance examination advanced exam. There is no other specific or particular reason behind it. One advantage I have considered is the environment it is situated in. This college is in Kerala, and this state is also kind of near to my home state. Negative aspect is that it is one of the newly established IITs. At the time I joined the college, there was not a single batch that passed out. So I was not sure about the placements. But I don't regret my decision of joining this college. The faculty is good and even the placements and internships are also good. However the infrastructure and the facilities are not like those of old IITs. These are still under development. But as of now the facilities are good. The admission process is only through the rank you secure in the JEE Advanced Examination.
To seek admission in IITPKD you have to apply in the college by filling the admission form with your rank in the JEE Advance examination. After that, if you are selected on the admission list you have to go to campus and submit your documents and fees.
