Hasini's Review On IIT Palakkad - Indian Institute Of Technology - [IITPKD], Palakkad

Remarks :

I chose this college because I was allotted this college according to my rank in the joint entrance examination advanced exam. There is no other specific or particular reason behind it. One advantage I have considered is the environment it is situated in. This college is in Kerala, and this state is also kind of near to my home state. Negative aspect is that it is one of the newly established IITs. At the time I joined the college, there was not a single batch that passed out. So I was not sure about the placements. But I don't regret my decision of joining this college. The faculty is good and even the placements and internships are also good. However the infrastructure and the facilities are not like those of old IITs. These are still under development. But as of now the facilities are good. The admission process is only through the rank you secure in the JEE Advanced Examination.

Course Curriculum Overview :

My first option was Computer Science but due to my rank I could not get CS branch. My second preference was Electrical because compared to the other branches my interests were aligned in this particular branch. The faculty here is well qualified with an all round experience in teaching in various other institutions and many of them also have a lot of experience in the industry. They share valuable information regarding their work, so that we also get some real world experience rather than just theory in notebooks. There are no issues regarding the faculty and unlike local colleges, the batch size will not be enormous here. There are hardly 60 students in the Electrical Engineering and we have Teaching Assistants for almost all the courses for additional help. Odd semester starts in July and lasts up to November and there is a semester break in the December. Even semester starts in January and lasts till April. And then there is a summer break for almost three months. Two tests and one end semester will be conducted in each semester and the difficulty level is average. If one is attentive in the class and takes notes, he could easily score a good grade in the exams.

Placement Experience :

The placements in the college are quite good. A student can secure internships even in his second year if he has good skills in coding. The stipend of the internships are also attractive. Students are eligible for campus placements from the third year of the degree. The no of companies is also good. Average salary offered is about 8 lakh per annum and the highest is around 22 lakh.

College Events :

Life at the campus is quite good because of the environment and trees around. It is so refreshing to take walks in the campus in the evening. The weather troubles a bit as there are rains most of the time at this place. Most of the time you need to carry umbrella or a rain coat. There are also so many clubs Technical, Cultural, Literary, Arts, Sports in the campus and anybody is open to start new clubs in the campus. There is an annual fest in the campus called Petrichor which usually takes place during the even semester and apart from that there are celebrations and fests during the odd semesters. There are sports competitions held as intra college competitions with different teams in a variety of sports. Many cultural events also take place such as Dance, Singing competitions.

Campus Life :

The campus infrastructure is satisfactory because it is still a new IIT. A new campus is under construction with lot of facilities it will probably take one more year to get it ready. But the current campus is also good. There is a small gym in the hostel, Wi-fi is available all the time in the hostel, mess and also the entire college. There are not too many sports facilities in this college. All the grounds are still under construction but as of now temporarily there is a basket ball court, a football ground, volley ball court and also a badminton court in the college. They usually play cricket in the football ground itself. There are also facilities for Athletics. There is a coach for Athletics too. Regarding the labs the equipment it quite good. Even the computer labs are well equipped and are open all the time through out the week. Library is not as big as those of old IITs but still they are good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As we start as semester system so according to year the semester makes tight schedule and difficult to follow but now it makes easy by our brillant teachers coordination. It is important to make a curriculum because it provides a standardized education. suggestions that need to be improved is providing ppt for students should be good and also publishing syallabus wise textbook will enable the to coverup the all topics that the university is assuring to be educated.the frequency and timing of exams assumes to be difficult because feeling of exams every time makes fearless of exams.the study leave providing are good . as per year in semester we should appear less number of subjects than year .so it makes less number of failures.

Placement Experience:

•College has an active placement cell that does everything in their ability to provide maximum number of placement for students. It doesn't guarantee placement, but try to increase the odds of it. •Placement training is given to students regularly •A good number of students do get placements each year.

Placement Experience:

The placements are more than decent as you get many opportunities to land a job before graduation. Provided you don't have backpapers which most companies wouldn't want in their candidates. Service-based companies such as TCS and Accenture take loads of students per year and pretty high-end companies visit too.

Placements are calling gives to final years but given that starting 2024 Calicut University introduce 4 year degree plan so we can't say anything about placement yet because they also put forward a proposal that students can drop of from the degree after 3 years or they can complete the 4 years program even though if 3 years or 4 years they can complete

CET is one of the top colleges with record campus placement in multinational companies. Fifth and sixth-semester students are eligible for campus placements. International companies like Royal Enfield, Google, Tata, Mitsubishi, Honda, etc are conducting campus placements in CET with above 3 lakh Indian currencies per annum which may reach up to 40 lakhs. Almost 90% of students are getting placed in various companies including me.

Placement Experience:

Actually I'm a final year student and waiting for the placement to come.when I was in the 4th semester, most of my seniors got the campus placement. I thing percentage of getting placement is doesn't matter here, because if you have good knowledge in subject or practical ideas and communication skills you surely got the placement

Admission:

I got admission to this college by Kerala University based on my marks. The main reason I chose this college and course is because, this college has an A grade given by the NAAC. And it is the only college in Kerala which has an English Honours Course. In addition the honours syllabus was so interesting. We learnt American, European, Canadian, British, African and Indian Literature. The syllabus also included Dalit Literature, theatre Studies and Cinema.
