Course curriculum is relevant and comprehensive. Real-world applicability is strong. Improvements: more practical projects, updated materials, and diverse teaching methods. Exam frequency and timing are manageable.

There is a good mix of theoretical understanding and practical experience in the course material offered at IIIT Allahabad. To keep up with current advancements in the field, it covers both fundamental and advanced topics in computer science, including data structures and algorithms as well as machine learning and cybersecurity. Students' ability to solve problems and their preparedness for the workforce are both improved by hands-on experience gained through internships, lab work, and projects. But the curriculum might be even more enhanced with the addition of extra workshops and multidisciplinary courses focused on new technology. When taken as a whole, the course of study adequately equips students for success in the classroom and beyond. The exams are given at regular intervals so that students' understanding is assessed in a balanced way. The institute will further solidify its reputation for excellence in computer science education by ongoing efforts to update and refine the cur

The course is more inclined towards practicle implementation of the theorectical concepts of machine learning. The best thing is the coding culture here and along with that there is Deep Learning as your compulsory subject.

I chose it because of my interest in programming and other new Technology like AI ML, and data science. Faculty to the student is good. Most faculties are PhDs from IIT and Foreign Universities, The teaching Method is research-based which helps students to dive deep into the course. In one semester two exams mid and end-sem
Tuition fees is arround 45k per sem and after all the other charges it comes at around 60k per sem plus mess charges which are around 15k per sem. Tuition fees will remain constant over the duration of your course however other charges may change a bit. There are scholarship opportunities but I don't know about them much. As compared to other govt. colleges, IIIT Allahabad is quite affordable.
Tuition fees: 50000 Mess: 12000 Hostel:5400 (double occupancy) 10000 (single occupancy) These are the major ones. The rest are either one time deposit only or varies with the semester.
The course curriculum although was not excellent, yet was very good. A full semester (last semester) was dedicated for the research. However, currently I feel that last 2 semesters should have been dedicated towards performing research which will improve the quality of the research as well as enhance the skills of the student. Some teachers were excellent while a few didn't bother about teaching.
Fee structure in IIITA is little expensive. For one semester it was around 55 K including hostel fee. 45 K was the college fee. But I was getting 8K per month stipend so I managed that easily. Library was good and big enough to study and many books were available.
The first thing you should consider is whether you want to pursue a Ph.D. or want a job after the completion of the course. I have a few friends at IIT ISM and I can tell you there are very few good faculties for CSE if you want guidance regarding Ph.D.
For any information regarding the faculty and research projects of IIIT Allahabad, you can visit both their faculty profile page and set a legitimate comparison with IIT (ISM).
Here are some other parameters of IIT (ISM), which you may find useful.
Placements:
The job prospects are increasing every year and the change is noticeable since its conversion to IIT. The institute also had a new director from IIT Kanpur. There also was a significant change in the placement cell, and the M.Tech placement stats have been kept under consideration, alongside B.Tech only after that.
The latest stats are as follows,
No. of Students Placed |
31 out of 58 |
Average CTC |
INR. 14 LPA |
Highest CTC |
INR 43.31 LPA |
Top Recruiters |
Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Ernst & Young |
Moreover, the summer and 6-month internships have also been good over the past few years. For instance, the 2021 passing out batch has received several summer intern offers from companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, and Microsoft.
If you prepare for the coding session interviews from the beginning of the 1st year, then you are more likely to obtain internship opportunities. You can convert it to PPO before the placement season begins.
Other Parameters:
There is another thing you should consider. It is the number of students from either CSE or IT in B.Tech + M.Tech taking part in the placement season,
A total of 372 students participated in the placement drive from IIIT Allahabad while 203 participated from ISM Dhanbad.
However, there might not be a significant difference between companies that visit both institutes. Fewer participants in placements mean less competition.
So, I will suggest that you take all these factors into consideration and also do your own research. Consider other options too, if you have any.
