Eligibility Criteria

Candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in aggregate for General and 45% for SC/ST from a recognized University/Board are eligible for admission into this course.

Admission Guidelines

Admission shall be made according to merit list prepared by the department based on the performance of candidates in a written test conducted by the department, subject to the fulfilment of all other criteria.
The standard of admission test, if any, shall be of class 12 (10 +2 system) or its equivalent. The test will be of 2-hour duration with multiple choice/objective/short answer type questions and shall cover broadly four areas: General English, General Knowledge, Logical Reasoning and Legal Aptitude.

Course Details

North Eastern Hill University offers nine courses at UG level which include BA, B.Sc, BA LLB (Hons) as its flagship programmes. The university also provides the option of distance learning for Certificate, Diploma and B.Ed (Special Education) courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have passed 10+2 in any discipline from a recognized board are considered eligible to get admission in BA/ B.Sc. courses.
Students who have passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks are considered eligible for BA LLB (Honors) course.
Applicants with Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University are eligible to get admission in B.Ed. program.
30% seats in each course are reserved for the Open category, 50% for SC/ ST candidates, 3% for Physically Disabled, and 10% for NEHU Employees children/ spouse.
The university reserves seats forwards of Ex-servicemen, outstanding sports person and the economically backward domicile of Meghalaya.

Selection Criteria

Admission in BA/ BSc/ B.Ed. course is given on the basis of candidates’ merit in the qualifying examination.

Likes

The management was good and I appreciate the effort of the college
The campus life was good especially the cafe.

Dislikes

The one I should say is it's biased for the sports
There is no proper selection for a person to join the college team

Year wise fees was paid rupy 26000 and the management fees was rupees 1600 per semester all the fees structure are same for the batchmates ..there are scholarship available for all the students and there is a special quota for merit ls

The teaching methods are good. Teachers are also very good
The infrastructure of the college is quite good.

Dislikes

Teachers don't take regular classes. They don't give proper notes.

Fees and Financial Aid:

Also available and besides that the fee structure is very less you only have to pay 3000 for one semester. There are state government scholarships. Besides all this, our college also helps students to grow in their Extracurricular activities also.

Likes

The Campus is Enormous,There are forests all around making the university filled with fresh air.
So many people to meet and interact. Most of them are friendly. There are also many programmes conducted by different departments, clubs and by the university as a whole.

Dislikes

Irregularities of Buses especially during examinations. There is Lack of Coordination in the administration which crumble things up.
Late appointment of guest lecturers in our department which makes the student suffer and courses are rushed after the appointment

Fees and Financial Aid:

There are Hikes in the Course fees which arises from different facilities offered by the University such as Medical fee, Laboratory fee, Library fee etc. The complete cost can be approximately 1 Lakh or more. There are Several State schemes that are available to apply for Scholarship such as the Umbrella Scheme.

Likes

The thing I like about my University is it's location that is shillong. The environment or climate here is incomparable to other national universities. The campus is surrounded with greenery. The campus stretch about 1200 acres.
You will find people from all over the country. You can interact with them, moreover you can know about the life of people in the northeast. Faculties are good when it comes to teaching.

Dislikes

Infrastructure needs a real upgrade, specially the law department building. Hostels are livable, but the basic amenities like drinking water, tap water is not good. Infrastructure needs a critical upgrade.
You won't find much crowd inside the campus, excluding the main gate. Curriculum is old and needs amends, however as per the BCI direction the curriculum for law students might get an upgrade.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The tuition fee or course fee is much less here compared to other universities that offer the same course. The complete cost of my graduation will only cost me less than 4 lakhs. Scholarships can be availed through NSP schemes and financial aid is given by the university. I have never heard about campus employment here, no one takes employment from the campus, except in exceptional cases where it's all upto you.

Life in a decent college

Likes

North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong is perfect for students to have full experience of a college life.
The campus is perfect for morning and evening walks. Besides that there are many sports that students participate after their classes like basketball

Dislikes

The lack of hostels for the Undergraduate females is concerning as many students who are yet to be allotted hostels have to spend a lot of transport.
Besides the lack of hostels there is even a bigger need for more transportation facilities.

Fees and Financial Aid:

The admission fees is around 20,000 which includes alot of the fees for facilities that are not provided yet to the students. One of which is the Moot Court maintenance fee. The semester fees are 10,100. These include all the lab, library, bus and tuition fees among others. There are several scholarship opportunities for students and they can be availed.

I like the place, the trees, the lake the flower
The bus being provided even at Saturday and sunday is a nice thing

Dislikes

The building for classroom are old and gloomy
The road the very bad here, there are many potholes

Fees and Financial Aid:

There is no tution fee as far as i know. But the department has charge us for moot court, with 2400 amount in our course fee, we do not have moot court they simply charge us without doing anything. Scholarship are available for most of the students.

I like the teaching skills and the mode of conduct of examination.
I like how the institute takes care of the students and disciplined.

Dislikes

The classes are too big and loudy which creates a problem in teaching
I don't like how teacher are not teaching us everything on time.

No the college fees is reasonable. You can apply for scholarship on nsp for extra financial support. Ishan Uday scholarship Financial support for ner. Merit cum based scholarship. Post matric scholarship These are some names of scholarship you can apply on nsp.
