Dislikes
- The lack of hostels for the Undergraduate females is concerning as many students who are yet to be allotted hostels have to spend a lot of transport.
- Besides the lack of hostels there is even a bigger need for more transportation facilities.
Course Curriculum Overview :
This course is a professional course and its curriculum is pretty difficult. B.A.LL.B(Hons) is a 5 year course which spans to over 10 semesters. Some of th aspect that made me opt for this particular course is that one need not do a 4 year B.A. course and then 3 year LL.B course when one can do all that in 5 years. Additionally, after graduation from this course one can practice as an advocate directly after passing the BAR exams. B.A.LL.B(Hons) is a course which has both theory and practical. For most of the first two years pre-law papers will be taught to have a basic understanding of concepts and to build up a foundation for grasping the more complex papers to be taught in the higher semesters. This course also includes interning and this is implemented from the 1st year itself which is great exposure for students. The course however needs revision as it is pretty old. Exams can pretty difficult or easy depending on one's own capabilities and preparation as the paper can be tough.
Fees and Financial Aid :
The admission fees is around 20,000 which includes alot of the fees for facilities that are not provided yet to the students. One of which is the Moot Court maintenance fee. The semester fees are 10,100. These include all the lab, library, bus and tuition fees among others. There are several scholarship opportunities for students and they can be availed.
Campus Life :
The Varsity Fest is a month-long festival that takes place annually. This period is a very fun and time when one actually gets to enjoy the full college experience. During this festival, all departments compete against each other in various competitions in sports and entertainment among other things.
Admission :
Anyone who has graduated from 10+2 with 50% is eligible for the course. The CUET is the exam through which one can apply for this course. Once the CUET results are out the online application form will be available in the NEHU official website. The form is to be submitted online and once the students are shortlisted it will be published in the website itself. Those shortlisted students have to meet the head of department in person for an interview after which the admission can be finalized.
Faculty :
The faculty-to-student ratio is pretty vast with only a few (around 10) teaching faculty catering to 600 students. Hence, it makes it harder the faculty as well as the students. However as I have previously mentioned that the faculty members are pretty approachable and helpful it does not hinder any of my learning experience. The teachers do their best in their capabilities to try and make us understand the concept and the curriculum properly. The faculty consists of pretty accomplished personalities with the Head-of-Department graduating from Harvard. The professors are all well educated and learned in their own field of law and are highly dedicated to educate us. Their approach is not to make us root learn or parrot learn instead they encourage us to have a practical understanding of whatever is being taught. This makes is so much for efficient and helpful in actually studying law. The teachers are always welcoming and approachable. They help us anytime be it study or other matter.
Other Applied Colleges
Loreto College | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Political Science)
I studied for a week in this college before joining NEHU. One of the main reasons I opted for NEHU instead of Loreto College is because of the course. I eventually wanted to study Law and since this college did not have the course I wanted to pursue.
