CUSAT PhD Admission 2024 is open now. Interested candidates can apply online on the official website of the university – cusat.ac.in.  Admissions to PhD program will be based on the departmental admission test (DAT) followed by a personal interview. For admissions to PhD in CUSAT need not apply online through the admission portal. The application will be available from the Departments concerned. PhD at CUSAT is a Full-Time and Part-Time PhD research program that is offered for 2-6 years.

CUSAT Ph.D. Eligibility 

In order to be eligible for PhD admission at CUSAT, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • A 1-year/2-semester Master’s Degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s Degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester Master’s Degree programme after a 3-year Bachelor’s Degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the Master’s Degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
  • Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the Educational Institution.
  • Candidates with a 4-year/8-semester Bachelor’s Degree (honours with research) having a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-CreamyLayer)/Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University from time to time.

This relaxation to the categories mentioned above is permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.


CUSAT Ph.D. Selection Criteria 

  • Eligible applicants need to appear for the Departmental Admission Test (DAT) which is conducted by the university
  • DAT is comprised of a written test and doctoral interview
  • The minimum passing percentage is 50% in the written test
  • Candidates who have qualified in the written test will have to appear for a doctoral interview
  • Final selection of the candidate is based on marks secured in Master’s degree along with performance in DAT.

  • Candidate can apply for admission as per the Common Admission Test notification available on the university’s website 
  • Candidates need to contact the guides of the Department of the concerned subject and check the availability of research guides
  • With the consent of the research guide, the candidate will have to obtain the hard copy of the application form from the concerned department
  • To obtain a hard copy of the application form, the candidate will have to make a payment through a demand draft taken from the State Bank of Travancore or State Bank of India in favour of the Registrar, CUSAT payable at Ernakulam, Kerala
  • Candidates will have to fill out the Application Form and submit it with relevant documents
  • After successful submission, candidates will get the schedule for the Departmental Admission Test
