The course and curriculum which we study is completely well and good and it is proved to be the best curriculum by providing the best engineers to the society. The main reason which made me to get into this field is that I am very passionate about mechanical engineering and want to make career out of it and NITK is the best place to begin with. The frequency of the test and exams is very great like in every semester there will be 2 quizzes along with midsem and endsem. Lot of class tests will also be there very week or at every 15 days. The question paper they set really requires thorough understanding of the concepts and mugging up things won't work in many of the courses.

The mechanical engineering curriculum at NITK likely covers fundamental principles and specialized courses. Practical sessions and projects enhance real world application skills. Exams are held periodically. Being a national level college, it gives students the exposure to not only theoretical knowledge but also practical experience. The course curriculum can be made a little better by making it less exam oriented learning. This will ensure that the students actually understand the concept and do not byheart it just for the sake of passing an exam with good grades.

I was mainly interested in physics. Hence I decided to choose mechanical engineering. The course covers almost all the topics required for industrial mechanical engineering thoroughly. Although I found the teaching quite unsatisfactory. We had our first three semesters online, so it was hard to keep up with the syllabus and learn as much as we wanted at the same time. Each semester includes 2 main exams plus a few quizzes and assignments depending on the respective staff. Mostly the professors use ppts to teach. Which I did not like. I prefer they focus on using textbooks instead.

This course offers flexibility in the domain you want to choose. There is no fixed purely core domains being stressed onto the students. The exams are of moderate difficulty and depend on faculty. Teaching is done on multiple modes based on faculty convenience.

Each course and department may vary in their curriculum design, so it's important to consider factors such as industry demand, alignment with current trends, and the depth of coverage in key subject areas. Mechanical, in particular, provides opportunities for students from 3rd year to choose their path of elective courses owing to the fact that it is a varied and diverse branch with many specialized dimains like robotics, energy engineering, production, etc. Faculty however is very strict and is the strictest in all of NITK. But if you are interested in Mechanical engineering this will not be a hinderance as many professors are more than willing to help you.
