Metallurgy is a great branch, which is irreverent to software industry. Many of our branch students has settled in government jobs like DRDO, ISRO, and defence agencies. We can explore many new things in this branch .

Although I have experienced only one sem here... I had some good faculty who were clearing the concepts properly.. And also some faculty who were appointed for training as teacher.. And this was difficult

The courses and course curriculum is relevant to the current industrial requirements. The course curriculum is also updated according to the changing needs and applications in the industry. It also gives you an overview of all the fields you can combine with your major course and can enhance your chances of working in the exact field you want to.

the reason why i choose this course is i was intrested in the field of material science and want to know more about it and after reasearching about the carrear oppurtunities involved in the field i decided to choose this course. Talking about the qualification of the professors here it is a matter of no concern every prof is highly qualified and we get to study the books written by our own professors sometimes. for example there was one course called engineering chemistry and for that subject we have to refer a book written by our own professors NITYANAND SHETTY sir. the exams are timely (conducted after every month approximately) and are moderate to difficult so we have to study hard to pas the exams.

The course curriculum of my branch very well designed in the National Institute of technology Surathkal karnataka. It involves all the concepts to be learnt as a engineer. In the 1st year everyone learn the same concepts that every student soud know irrespective of his branch whic includes subjects from each and every branch. Since course concentrates on the practical as well as theoretical aspects we can learn moore things in this environment so I choose this course. It gives knowledge about all real world pproblems faced and makes us to think how to solve it. since it is centrally funded college of national importance the course curriculum and teaching methods are very well designed so no need of any changes The examination is a continuos evaluation process where it depends o our performance throughout the semester not only any particular exam and also the difficult level of the paper is very high so that everyone tries to learn the background of each topic.

To be honest,I chose this because this is what i got in my rank, until now I've not found any reason to regret my choice.Faculty student ratio is 1:60 on an average it may differ in various departments. All the faculties teaching you will have a Minimum of Doctorate Degree in their fields,All the Associate Profs and Profs have pursued their education from various Institutes of National Important.Teaching method is usually through blackboard, ppts are also used in some cases.Exams were conducted on time and thing I liked was they were puctual in declaring results too,It's easy to pass if you've attended classes and revised once.

Metallurgy dept is quite chill in our college in the sense one can get adequate time for doing anu stuff he/she wants to do along with studies. All the faculties are highly qualified ,all are from IITS or from foreign universities. There is great scope if you want to persue career in research field.

Implementation of the curriculum is the responsibility of the faculty.i choose this course because of package. Here faculties are well studied and friendly. Exams are mainly difficult and it's difficult to pass
Metallurgy at NIT Surathkal is a very good branch as there is a rising requirement of materials science and engineering and their number of students taking admission in this branch is comparatively less than other branches like Civil, Mechanical or Electrical so you can expect less competition in this field.

The course is really good and it gives a strong base to the students for their higher studies which is quite important in this field. The department is now called Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and it focuses more on materials engineering. The professors here are very good at their job and are enthusiastic about teaching. They teach very well and create an interest among the students.
The facilities are not that great but are good enough as an engineering college. There is one SEM and XRD, metallurgy lab, materials testing lab, and a good heat treatment lab. The placement records are quite good too and it exposes you to various companies so you can secure a job in both core and non-core companies.
Considering the opportunities which may get available for you in the future, I would suggest you go for Chemical Engineering at NIT Surat as it would be a better option over metallurgy. As my sister studied there, I am very well aware of the college and its pros and cons.
