There is not much on the curriculum, practicals are good, and some courses are really interesting like you have to make a video in 2nd sem in mental health-related subjects. The curriculum gets updated every year based on the requirements of the industry that's good. The frequency and timing of the exams are well set, they will notify you priorly and there is a descent amount of time given to prepare for the exams. Areas of improvement would be allowing students to study different courses from 3rd sem itself based on their interests. Like in BITS Pilani.

*I choose mechanical branch because it is a core branch and we can get into many Psu's through this branch. *I think mechanical engineering is the real engineering branch where we do some physical labour. *The curriculum prepares us for the real world by making us do everything practically. The lab classes and workshops prepares us for the real-world.

Management Students learn about classical management, self-development, innovation management, company foundation, and digitalization. Technology management Students learn about ethics, law, and IT security. They also learn programming and work on real projects using innovation methods like design thinking. Electronics and Communication Engineering Students learn about p-n junctions, metal-semiconductor contacts, metal-insulator-semiconductor capacitors, MOSFETs, and bipolar junction transistors. The National Institute of Technology Raipur (NIT Raipur) website has information about the syllabus and scheme for the first year, including open and program electives, and the scheme for the first and second semester of B. Tech., B. Arch., and MCA programs. Some of the most popular courses at NITs include: Civil Chemical Computer Science Electrical & Electronics Electronics & Communication Mechanical

The curriculum of the college is well designed but not according to the modern world, the college more focus on theoretical knowledge as compared to practical knowledge which creates problems for the students during their placements where companies want practical knowledge.

As like every JEE aspirant I Chose the best option for myself that is mechanical engineering. At first I was not that sure but after the succesive years passed i am damn sure that this is the best branch i can pursue according to my potential. This branch includes mechanics , thermodynamics and design. The syllabus is defined and plotted according to the competitive exams which is helpful for students who want to appear for examinations like GATE, IIT JAM etc. As a part of improvement , syllabus should include learning of different softwares in this fast moving world. Autocad should be included from the first year of the course. But overall the syllabus is best for one who loves mechanics and solving practical problems.

At my rank in jee the best college for mechanical engineering i was getting was this college only , currently in the first year we don't have any idea how is the mechanical faculty in this college because for now we are under the chemistry department of the NIT and talking about the first year academics ,it is okayish not good but not too bad ,you get a lot of free time in first year and if you elect your CR wisely then you can have absolutely great first year in terms of bunks and classes ( hopefully we got a good CR). talking about the teaching method, it was just like school ,yes you read it right ,just like schools even worse than school , that's what i have to say about this.

As I am a 2nd year undergraduate in the Mechanical Engineering department at NIT Raipur. As we all know core subjects are introduced from 3rd semester onwards and the core of Mechanical is relatively tougher than other branches of subjects. The curriculum is also somewhat hectic and lengthy. Although faculties are supportive and well-behaved. Our department professors are friendly with students. Almost 6-7 hours a day you will have classes. And you have to attend two labs in a week. Saturday and Sunday will be a holiday and you will get enough time to work on other placement-related skills and also for enjoyment

The specific aspects Are in first year it covers most of the basics you must have to learn In life. The curriculum has the labs included which are very helpful in learning the practical knowledge and applying what you have studied in the theory subjects. I suggest only to improve the time table cause it has many different timings. The frequency of exams are good.you can easily write them if you have attended the class.
As far as the placement reports say, placement for mechanical engineering in NIT Raipur varies in between 70%-80%. Although the placements are not as high as IT/CSE branch when compared with mechanical engineering. But yes, there is a most essential perk of job security in the mechanical engineering branch which most of today’s software companies and startups lack.
Now moving from core to non-core campus visitors in the fields of Software & Analytics for all the branches, the package offered is usually very low around 3.5–5 LPA.
Some companies like BPCL AND HPCL have strict rules of allowing only topper of some branches to appear for the placements. Whereas Coal India does not have vacancies for mechanical every year.
Though, the job openings for Mechanical Engineers are always there. This is a reason why Mechanical is called an evergreen branch. Moreover, placements everywhere on the country’s economic situation.
Don't go for placement packages, it may disappoint you. Just keep a good CPI and be conceptually strong, you will surely end up in good companies like Tata and Maruti.
NIT Raipur offers a great Mechanical Engineering program. The department has a dedicated faculty pool. Professors are well-experienced in their field. Placements are good for Mechanical. The average package received by the students is around INR 7-8 LPA. Companies such as Deloitte, L&T, Hero MotoCorp, etc. take part in the NIT Raipur placements. Many students also get recruited by non-core companies. The department has many clubs such as SAE group and Robotics club.
The students can get better placement in NIT Raipur. One will get good opportunities and exposure in the mining branch too. Moreover, the experience at NIT is far better than BIT DURG.
The table shows a brief overview of the institutions:
Particulars |
NIT Raipur |
BIT DURG |

Rs. 6.5 lakhs |
Highest Salary |
Rs. 33 lakhs |
Rs. 32 lakhs |
Entrance Criteria |
JEE Mains |
CPET |
Fees |
Rs. 5.52 lakhs |
Rs. 2.92 lakhs |
So overall, if the students are into mechanical or mining, don't rely too much on what the book taught you, be aware of current trends and practices.
Both the colleges, BIT Mesra and NIT Raipur are two profound colleges of the nation but comparing them based on different branches is not justified.
Talking about the mechanical and computer science branch, the scope of computer science is the higher and mechanical branches.

Choosing between the two, opt for NIT Raipur, CSE branch due to the scope of the particular domain.
Having talked to people at NIT Raipur and HBTU Kanpur, I have gathered reasons why students should opt for NIT Raipur instead of HBTU Kanpur for B.Tech.
These are described below -
The table shows a brief overview of the institutions:

NIT Raipur |

Overall, NIT Raipur is the potential choice for B.Tech rather than HBTU Kanpur. Even students of HBTU also prefer NIT Raipur over their college.
