- Placements, good for core & non-core branches. The CP, Hackathon Culture is just amazing almsot everytime you'll find students discussing about making teams for a particular hackathon or discussing strategies for case study competitions.
- The amazing alumni network in reputated companies allows college to get continuous placements & internship opportunities on campus.
Dislikes
- Primitive thinking of staffs, professors & hostel wardens, there is barricading for boys & girls even for music concert events. You cannot roam around with your friends of different gender, professors keep an eye on you.
- There is a reserved seats for professors, even on music events which is like 1st to the stage and students are kept behind them way far struggling in crowds.
Course Curriculum Overview :
There is not much on the curriculum, practicals are good, and some courses are really interesting like you have to make a video in 2nd sem in mental health-related subjects. The curriculum gets updated every year based on the requirements of the industry that's good. The frequency and timing of the exams are well set, they will notify you priorly and there is a descent amount of time given to prepare for the exams. Areas of improvement would be allowing students to study different courses from 3rd sem itself based on their interests. Like in BITS Pilani.
Internships Opportunities :
Internships offered: Optum (60k), Google (1 lac+), Microsoft (1 lac+), DBOI (70K), Reliance(30K), TVS(30K), GE Healthcare(40K), Morgan Stanely(60K), Paypal(70K).
Placement Experience :
Students are allowed to sit on placements from the 7th sem (for B.Tech) and for internships(5th sem), before entering to 8th sem (almost all students get a job). For circuital branches like CS, IT, ECE, EE Avg package is around 15lpa, for reminding core companies the Avg package is around 8-9lpa. Some renowned companies visits are Oracle, PhonePE, Microsoft, Google, Optum, PocketFM, Tekion, WD, UKG, NVIDIA, AMD, Kanerika, IBM, Hyperverge, ZS Associates, etc. Almost 95 % of Students get a placement each year. Do the corporate job for 1-2 year then pursue my startup as a full-time.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Currently, the fees is 71110 per sem for the General category(Almost same for OBC-NCL) with tuition fee wavier up to 80-90% for SC/ST category . NIT Raipur has a special tuition fee wavier based on income of the candidates family. 1-5 lac per/yr income category per sem fees becomes 25k, and for 0-1 lac per/yr the fees for 1 year(2 semester) is 11k only.
Campus Life :
Campus life is average as you are not allowed to roam around the campus after 9:30 pm, and there is a security guard at each corner of the campus. Too many restrictions on students. Social Clubs and committees are good, I was the Over-all Coordinators of 2 clubs of my college (Sahyog(Well-Being club) and the Literature committee). They provide various opportunities for you to explore your talent, and grow yourself as a person. There are n number of clubs in college fulfilling each interest of the students from tech to cultural everything covered. Most of the Clubs are student run clubs including the official media cell of the college also.
Admission :
Some major points where NIT Raipur stands out over the other colleges. It's Placements, being an NIT it's decent enough for anyone choosing a college in a peaceful and affordable city like Raipur. It's Alumni connections, that make the college foundation really strong. The Student Culture is really good for personal growth, for someone who is still figuring out his/her career NIT RR could be a really good college for them. The Hackathons and CP Culture are awesome Almost in every competition on Unstop, HackerEarth, Case Study competition, Codechef, and Codeforces there is at least 1 winner or a finalist from NIT Raipur. Admission process is same as prescribed by Jossaa same as other NITs.
Faculty :
Faculty The student ratio is good enough for an Engineering college, almost about 1 Prof:90 students. TBH Classroom study is not at all needed in college in the end you have to self-study and clear the exams. Some Best faculty members I remember is Dr. Mridu Ma'am who is a teacher of ML of IT department, it was an open elective so anyone could opt for it. Some really worst faculties I can remember is/are (DR N.Jain (Mech dept), Majumdar (Chem department), and S.B sir Mech Dept). They are just anti-students and just have some personal grudge against each student.
Night Life :
- Nightlife is just average, it's better to plan a night out outside the college or a friend's trip to some other college fests. - For girls, 9:30 pm is the last in-time for girls, and 10:00 pm for boys. - Places to hangout in-between classes(bunk them) is Vachan parlour, Bihan- Canteen, and Amul parlour.
