IIT Patna MTech admissions are based on GATE Score followed by COAP counselling. The registration process for the MTech program is open and the last date to apply is April 20, 2024. Further, the application process for COAP counselling are ongoing now, and registration is on the official website. 

IIT Patna offers an MTech program in 15 different specialisations and admission based on valid GATE scores and COAP counselling process.  For IIT Patna MTech admission 2024, candidates will be shortlisted based on their overall academic and GATE performance. On qualifying both stages, the candidates will be considered for IIT Patna MTech admission. However, students with IIT BTech degrees with a CPI of 8.0 and Sponsored candidates with 60% CGPA are exempted from taking the GATE exam and can apply directly through the institute’s admission portal.

IIT Patna MTech Eligibility Criteria

To seek admission to MTech program, students have to fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

  • Applicants should have a B.Tech / B.E / M.Sc degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.
  • Students must have at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.0 on a 10 point scale in graduation (For SC/ ST 55% marks).
  • Final year students yet to appear for their final examination are also eligible to apply.

Exceptions: 

  • B.Tech students from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 8.0 need not appear for GATE.
  • Sponsored candidates with at least 60% CGPA are eligible to apply with 2 years of experience. These candidates are not required to submit GATE scores.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the M.Tech program on the basis of their GATE score. Then, there will be an Interview round conducted for final selection of the candidates.

  • GATE exam carries 70% weightage and Interview round carries 30% weightage. 
  • Candidates have to report at the IIT Patna Campus for Personal Interview (PI) round.
  • In the PI round, the skills that the candidate will be assessed for will be Basic Science, Engineering and other related areas.
  • Applicants who qualify both stages of the selection process will be considered for admission to the M.Tech program.

  • Visit the official website i.e. www.iitp.ac.in/ and click on the admission link
  • Register by using your email id and password
  • Login after the confirmation of email
  • Fill application form with required information
  • Upload the scan copy of signature and photograph
  • Pay application fee either of the available mode
  • Take the print out of application form for future reference

GATE 2024 COAP Registration Process

After passing the GATE entrance exam, candidates are to register for the COAP counseling process to secure their admission into IITs, NITs, and other participating institutes. COAP provides a common platform for the registered candidates to make the most preferred choice for admission into an M.Tech. Program in the participating Institutes. 

Eligibility Criteria to Register for COAP 2024

  1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
  2. Candidates should have a valid GATE score from 2024/2022/2f021.

How to Apply for COAP 2024?

The candidates can successfully apply for GATE COAP 2024 by simply following the below:

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of COAP @ coap.iitd.ac. and click on the registration link.
  • Step 2: Fill in details such as their GATE Registration Number, GATE Paper Code, GATE score, and date of birth.
  • Step 3: Click on the “Validate” icon and enter the registered email id and mobile number.
  • Step 4:Click on the “Submit to Register” button.
  • Step 5: After successfully registering for COAP 2024, the candidates will obtain a Login ID and Password for COAP Login. The same will be sent via Email and SMS.
  • Step 6: The COAP registration will only be considered complete only if the candidates log in using the Login ID and Password and verify the registration details.
  • Step 7: After the completion of the above-given steps, the candidate can access the information on offers made by the participating Institutes.
  • Step 8: In the end, the admission offer will be uploaded to the COAP website and will be tagged with the COAP registration number (same as the GATE registration number without the subject code).

Ans. No, IIT Patna M.Tech admissions are conducted once every year. Applications are available throughout the year but submission date is usually for April (of that year). Final lists are released by May.
