NIT Rourkela Integrated M.Tech Course Details

The entire course work of the Integrated M.Tech program is spread across 10 semesters consisting of various theory courses, electives, research projects, laboratory work, industrial training, seminars, and comprehensive viva-voce, etc. In the 9th semester of the Integrated M.Tech program, a candidate has to undergo industrial training of a minimum of 6 months at any company or organization.

The course work is based on the credits system such as.

Wonderful and Beautiful Campus and infrastructure.
The hostel mess food quality is nice and healthy.

In my department at that time there were shortage of professor, so we got very less elective core courses.
Strictness about the class attendance. There is around 85% attendance compulsory.

Choosing of subjects is difficult because the provide only course name and course credit. The professor who is assigned to that perticular course and syllabus, they won't give. The course were based on Real world applications. Increase the number of professors and teach separately for B.Tech, M.tech and Phd students.

Good green nature and environment. Last green campus.
Placements are good for most of the branches especially circuital branches ( cse, ece, ei, ee)

Once you get a backlog cause of any reason, its quite difficult and costly process to get passed again. It involves a lot of strict rules and regulations.
No much visiting places. No fast transport for south indians mainly. Tours and long trips are only for richees.

There are lot of unnecessary courses such as environmental studies (3 credit) , biology (2), English(2), engineering drawing lab(2), English lab(1). Lot of unnecessary electives such as sanskrit, film studies, phsscology, gender ratios. All this appears to me as a outdated curriculum.

roller coster ride

Infrastructure. we got some very good architecture in our most of the buildings
club culture. we have more than 50 clubs to get into

attendence. we have to maintain a 85% attendence which is high than most of the colleges
faculty. here most of the doesnot care what you learn or not they just want assignment

I got Civil department as per my rank in JEE MAINS. In 1st year, To be honest these course don't prepare us for any kind of practical application, thay only focus on theory. These should be less burden on students on the topic that are irrelevant to our department. Exam here are held in two parts midsemester and endsemester.

First thing that I liked there is the club culture which provides high level guidance and enhances the opportunities
The college has the top notch labs with world class facilities.

The climate of the region is very unpleasant.

The course taught is really helpful, insightful and industry relevant. A strategic feedback is also taken from us to rate the course taught to us. We have to give 2 exams annually and finally the score is both is considered to calculate the final SGPA.

Nit Rourkela: college review

The environment is great and you'll meet the top students of India with brilliant minds. You'll learn a lot throughout your journeyney
Faculty and professors are helpful and they try to resolve student's doubt.

Specially for girls ( if you get cvr hall of residence you will have to share a your room. The room are not spacious enough to occupy two people. Sadly, you have to manage with that
As in any other college, there will some days when you feel zonism is there. ( people will prioritize oria people)

You 'll get a whole range of courses. And there are some extra courses as well which is not provided by every college. Exams are conducted in a disciplined way. Punctuality and strictness is mainatined by both staffs and students. I think the staffs should be more strict to prevent students to cheat in the exams as there our students who are smart enough and they manage to cheat even in this strict environment.

Every 1st year students are provided with a mentor that helps them in every perspective of their college life.
The campus is vast full of greenery and lakes.

The mess food is quite disappointing but if you avail for garden green mess it's food is so good.
There is no western style toilets in any hostel except few.

The course you choose is on the basis of your jee rank and interest I chose this course on the basis of my jee rank. But talking about the course it is quite interesting. The exams are held every 2 months one is a mid-semester exam and the other is an end-semester exam.

Not the best but quite good college

It has a very big campus of around 1200 acres.
This nit college is zero ragging college.

The weather is very extreme and changes rapidly
The ratio of girls to boys is very low .

The course curriculum is very simple here. All the subjects are arranged such that we don't get any pressure in our respective semester. There are three labs in every semester after the beginning of second year.

I liked the beauty and maintenance of the campus.
Mess food is really very good here and also there are night canteens in hostels.

Campus is not in Fully urban area and railway station in 7 km away
Fests are not upto the mark as expected in a top NIT

The subjects taught in the curriculum are as per the New Education Policy (NEP). We are taught about DC machines(motors, generators, etc.), AC currents, power systems, and digital and analog electronics which are useful in industrial work. Some improvements in the course curriculum can be made such as - reducing some syllabus that are only meant to be for exams and not in the field so that students get more time for relevant projects and learn new things. Exams are conducted once every two months. A semester is four months. The difficulty level is moderate but you have to really study well to do well in exams.
