Hostel fees is included in the total fees. Which is approximately 10k per semester excluding mess fee( which is 25 k approx) . There are 7 boys hostel with only 2 girls hostel. The rooms of girls hostel are not really spacious specially if you get cvr Hall.Single occupancy rooms are shared by two people with poor ventilation.I am not aware of kms halls. There is another accommodation for only first year girls( Bf Hall). The room are quite spacious here. And it will feel like home here. Mess food of all the hostels including boys and girls are quite average. Although non veg people will get non - veg everyday with a lot of varieties including chicken, fish, prawns, eggs, etc; there are hardly any options for veg people. The food is not hygienic specially in our hostel. Being a vegetarian myself, I have joined green mess ( a mess for vegetarian people) in our campus. It's the most hygiene and tasty food you 'll get here. The quality is really good and the staffs here are polite .

The students who are freshers have only one hostel with a capacity of 1200 students. The meal quality is very bad here. For the non vegetarian it may be good. All students need to live in college hostel

A hostel facility is given to everyone. It's 2 seated for boys. Can be one seated in some cases. HB Hall of Residence provides single bedded rooms. All the others provide two seated. Girls can have upto 5 seated rooms due to the unavailability of rooms. There r hostels being built, which should solve this problem. The rooms r small but livable, the mess is bad most of the time, and the money that goes towards mess probably goes to someone's pocket it seems.

Hostel are decent, it's good that occupancy is not more than 2 people however for boys you'll get VS hostel and which is very congested for 2 people because it was meant for only single occupancy rooms and same for girls in the 1st year they'll also face such congestion problems and mess is not that great the fees is just too much and quality is not upto the mark so overall the experience is okayish

Our institute charges 10,000 rupees for hostel rent per semester. Our room consists of all basic requirements such as a table, chair, bed, and LAN cable connection. There is no AC provided in the hostel rooms. Apart from that there are sufficient automatic watching machines, water heaters in bathrooms, and water coolers for drinking water. Mess food quality varies from hostel to hostel. We have here a pure veg cafeteria where pure veg food is served without onion and garlic. Here both boys and girls can come and take their food. The quality of food in the Pure Veg cafeteria is significantly good than other hostels.
One of my female friends shared her hostel life experience at NIT Rourkela. Here is a glimpse of what her hostel life looked like
Overall hostel life at BIT Mesra is decent for girls with a few restrictions.
NIT Rourkela hostel rooms are decent with enough space to house 2 students. From the 3rd year, students are allotted single-occupancy rooms.
Hope this was helpful!
The menu, as well as the mess staff, changes every year so you won't get bored with the dishes and the taste. Here is how a typical mess menu of a day looks like
A special lunch and dinner are served weekly.
Common items:
The food quality depends upon the caterer of the hostel. The mess secretary is also a student so students can customize the menu as per their needs.
The two girls' hostels available at NIT Rourkela are C.V.Raman Hall of Residence and K.M.Shaw Hall of Residence. During your admission into NIT Rourkela, you will be allotted one of these two hostels.
C.V. Raman Hall of Residence-
Kiran Majumdar Shaw Hall of Residence-
The girls hostels at NIT Rourkela are not the best, however, they are quite decent. The best part is that you will enjoy your time over there and make endless memories.
NIT Rourkela has amazing accommodation facilities with a few disadvantages too.
Pros
Cons
So NIT Rourkela hostel facilities have more pros than cons.
There is no ‘best’ hostel because every student considers his own hostel better than others because it's the place he spent the best years of his life and gave him precious memories. Also, NIT Rourkela does not have hostels but Halls of Residence. That being said, my sister, an ex-student of NIT Rourkela considered her hall, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw Hall of Residence the best hall in NIT Rourkela.
Overall, KMS is the best hall of residence in NIT Rourkela that offers a peaceful and serene experience.
Hostel life at NIT Rourkela is very happening and vibrant. You will make a lot of new friends here and create memories. The students are instilled with a sense of freedom and this makes the experience more thrilling. You start enjoying the company of your newly found family.
Overall being a hosteller at NIT Rourkela is fun and you should look forward to it.
NIT Rourkela provides excellent hostel facilities for both girls and boys. Let us have a brief look at the facilities
Rooms and Accommodation - They have 10 hostels for college students. It is divided into two for both girls and boys. They do not have special facilities for postgraduate students. The rooms are spacious and need to be shared with two or three batchmates.
Other Activities – Students can enjoy their leisure time by playing outdoor and indoor games. They encourage sports like basketball, badminton, etc. The central part of the attraction is the music room, which pleases the musicians. The gym facilities are also available inside the hostel.
Food and Maintenance – They provide decent mess food, which includes non-vegetarian food, for six days a week. They Ensure cleanliness on both campus and in the hostel and laundry services are also available here
