- The college has a very large and lush green campus. Some hostels are very big and college also has an innovation centre for startups to grow. The campus life is decent, there are plenty of spots for snacking.
- The support provided for career advancements is also pretty good. The infrastructure is good top notch the classes have smart boards and the labs are also well maintained.
Dislikes
- The college has a little ragging problem which really needs to be improved. The hostel mess is really bad and certain hostels really need improvement.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Chemical Engineering course here is one of the best in India. The course structure is very balanced and well structured for real world applications. The examination frequency is twice per semester which is like once in 2 months and the questions are not at all difficult and easy to attempt. The course thought balanced can be improved by adding more specialized electives that students can choose which will increase their skillset.
Internships Opportunities :
Bosch, Google, ONGC, Essar oil and gas, Nvidia, Coal India, Microsoft, Netflix such companies offer internship at the college in 3rd year. Roles like Data Scientist, Fracturing Engineer, Mining Engineer, System Engineer, Systems architecture Engineer are offered.
Placement Experience :
Students start getting campus placements from the 7th semester but students can also get pre placement offers during internships that they can get from 6th semester. Microsoft, Google, Uber, Cognizant, Media.net, Ola, Pizza Hut such companies visited and total number of 628 offers were made. The highest package in the college was of 2cr, the average was 19 lpa. Profiles like SWE, SDE, JDE, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, Product Manager were offered. Around 70% students got placed. My personal plans after getting a degree is to go for placements.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
As this is a government institute the tution fee hike isn't regular and the fees remains consistent for many years. The total cost of my 4 year degree will be around ?1250000. Only if your family income is less than 5 lakhs are you eligible for a scholarship by the institute, in all other cases you're not eligible for a scholarship.
Campus Life :
There are three annual fests held here, Concetto, Srijan and Parakaram. Concetto is the annual tech fest and is held in October, Srijan is the annual cultural fest and is held in February and Parakaram is the annual sports fest and is held in March. The institute has the second largest technical library in Asia so there are a bast variety of books available on different topics of engineering. In classes there are smart boards and smart TVs available for the best learning experience. The sports and extracurricular activities offered in the campus are vast and there are different clubs for each activity and sports which are all managed by students. There also are clubs which aim to help the underprivileged children and these clubs are also student operated.
Hostel Facilities :
In the first year the hostel offered is not good and the rooms are very small not enough for 2 people. In rooms you're provided with an almirah, a cemented desk and two chairs. The food quality is very bad and the menu is also very boring with very less variety. Registration for the hostel happens when you're in college, you have to fill a form given by the hostel authorities and submit it to the warden. The hostels are very affordable with a semester fees of around 28000 including the mess charges.
Admission :
You're eligible for the counseling you've cleared JEE ADVANCED and have the cutoff rank. There's no application form for the institute itself, you'll just have to fill the josaa counseling. The JEE ADVANCED exam is conducted once per year and is a difficult exam.
Faculty :
The faculty is not good enough at 21:1, it can definitely improve although this doesn't affect the learning at the college. The faculty are very well qualified, I would even say some are over qualified and they're always ready to offer their help. Outside of class the professors are available in their cabins during working hours and you can always approach them.
