- Hostels infrastructure is quite good and better than majority of the nits .
- Many clubs are there like sports club (cricket ,badminton ,chess, volleyball, tt, tennis , football etc) Cultural clubs , NSS, coding club , technical club, photography club and many more you will love to explore all the clubs and their seniors.
Dislikes
- Mess food is quite below avg. So do majority of the colleges so that's a given thing in engineering colleges.
- You have to greet your seniors and always use sir/mam which sometimes is quite irritating.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is not that updates with time but still very relevant. Although I think there's no meaning in cs students learning electrical and mechanical things in 1st year as it's a waste . I think adding a minor degree and providing latest curriculum and latest industry demanding information will be better.
Internships Opportunities :
College does provide internship opportunities and these are handles and coordinated by seniors . One thing which should be known is that you should always maintain good relations with your seniors and ask for help in any case . Rest all internships are good and placement is also quite excellent
Placement Experience :
After 6th sem students start applying for placements. The average package offered was 12.63 lpa this year due to recession in job market. The avg for my branch i.e production and industrial engineering was 8.26 lpa . Avg for cs was 20.24 lpa and the highest package offered was 82 lpa . Total 260+ companies visited college offering 725+ jobs .
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fees for general and OBC student is approx 2 lakh per year . Fos sc/st it's 86k per year and for the general and OBC candidates with family income less than 5 lakhs and greater than 1 lakh it's 1.2 lakh approx and for family having less than 1 lakh income it's only the hostel fees which is 86k per year
Campus Life :
There are 3 annual fest that occur in NIT JAMSHEDPUR . URJA (sports fest ) OJASS (Annual technical fest ) CULFEST (annual cultural fest) . Nit jamshedpur has many clubs . There are clubs for sports(almost all sports club and many times inter NIT is also held in our campus) , cultural , technical , NSS ,coding , etc All clubs have president or captian with many other POR's also and a professor in charge of the club . Students bond with their seniors through clubs and learn many things along with it .
Hostel Facilities :
The rooms are equipped with projectors ,fans , ac and good quality benches . Classrooms are very good . Menu is good but the quality is below avg . Hostels are very good. In the first year we get a room sharing with one person . After that we get single rooms . This is for boys but for girls it's always 3 sitter room.
Admission :
You must have 75% + in your 12th and should have your category cutoff . You can take admission through jossa or csab counselling . The cutoff for production engineering in nit jamshedpur for a general candidate is above 96 percentile in jee mains . Although it varies every year .
Faculty :
All faculties are highly qualified . And faculty to student ratio is also good bcoz it's not some private college where 7k + students are there in cs and in big classrooms only one faculty teaches to a high number of students. These things are very well managed as it's a national institute. Some professors are very good some doesn't bother at all and some will not give you marks .
