Remarks :
IIT Bombay is one of the well-known government-owned institutions of India. It offers an excellent course structure and future opportunities for its students. After completing my B.Tech I was a bit confused about pursuing M.Tech further. My score in GATE gave me motivation and I got admission to IIT Bombay. The admission fee for this course is Rs.2200 and my entire application was submitted online. A candidate should also have 60% marks in graduation as stated in the admission criteria.
Course Curriculum Overview :
When choosing IIT for your studies, you need not worry about the course structure. Practical and lab work are the most important in the entire course since they teach us the real-life applications of the concepts we studied in the lectures. Our batch was taught 80% online due to the pandemic and thus there were no guest speakers. All the seminars, quizzes, and competitions were conducted online.
Placement Experience :
400+ M.Tech students are placed every year here at IIT. Engineering & Technology was observed as the top sector in the placements followed by IT/Software. In my batch, the placement percentage decreased a little since fewer students participated. The highest international package stood at more than INR 2.1 CPA & the highest domestic package stood at more than INR 1 CPA. Honeywell, ISRO, Airbus were the top recruiters.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure in a government-owned institute is much simpler as compared to a private institution. The fee for M.Tech here is Rs. 1.39 lakhs inclusive of tuition fee, exam fee, registration fee, and other charges. Merit Cum Means Scholarship, IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship, Aditya Birla Scholarship, OPJEMS Scholarship are the ones provided by IIT Bombay. Separate form filling is required if you are looking to apply for a scholarship.
Campus Life :
The bitter truth is pandemic ruined my campus life. All those plans, dreams went in vain. I only lived on the campus for quite a few months. All the events were conducted online including the cultural fest and the technical one. Had the pandemic not been there, I really would have enjoyed and learned a lot socially. I utilized my stay at the campus very efficiently and created a lot of small and beautiful memories.
