Very good management. There are different committee/counsils for various activities. These bodies faculties and students members to drive all activities.
Course Curriculum Overview :
There are two options for MTech - 2 year Teaching Assistant and 3 year Research Assistant program. I had taken 3 year RA program, where I've allocated to one of the labs. Responsibilities of RA: research porjects / supporting the allocated lab for structuing and executing lab courses, various experiments etc. Course: 10 courses with one optional from any other department. Most of the courses had capstone projects/ assignments to apply what have learnt.
Placement Experience :
Process: Placement cell will be contacting different companies and allotnthe slots. First level of placements would be started on Dec. Some companies will be having preliminary tests for first level screening. This will be conducted on or before Nov. Interviews: slots allocated for each companies would be typically one day. Upto 2-4 levels of interviews would be conducted (based on the company). Major companies: Sony, Honeywell, Eaton, ABB, Robert Bosch, Mahindra, Tata motors, etc.
College Events :
Techfest (Jan) - largest techinal fest in India. Technical completions, robowars, workshops, programs from international bands etc. are the main attraction. Mood Indigo (Dec) - cultural festival Various workshops, seminars, conferences (national and international), cultural programs, sports events - hostel GC, inter IIT tournaments etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Feasible. Semester fee was around 36000 to 45000 with food and accommodation. Tution fee was around 16000. Since there is stipend available for PG students (>12,500 per month) it was okay for us to manage all the expenses our own. Total fees consists of hostel fee (food and accommodation), transportation fee (for internal bus), tution fee, medical fee etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholorship: for PG students and research scholars, Gov. or project funded stipends are available. For bachelor students, merit scholarships are available and selection committee will be deciding the qualified students.
Campus Life :
Have very good labs and student activity areas. Various clubs for technical, cultural, entrepreneurship, sports etc. gives a wide range of options to students. Amenities for all type of activities are there. Gender ratio: 8% women. Hostels: Good quality hostels - single occupancy and sharing are available based on the course. Quarters would be available for married research scholars. Techfest and Mood Indigo: are the best technical and cultural festival (respectively) in the country.
Hostel Facilities :
Yes. In the first year it was a two sharing room. After that, alloted to a single occupancy room. Neatness: Good and we'll maintained. Amenities: Internet connection, gym, boxing room, TV room, recreational sports/games area, canteen etc.
Alumni/Alumna :
Active alumni group: various online and offline activities are being conducting. Seniors: very supportive. Alumni sponsorship: from alumni group for infrastructure and supporting students in need. Job refferals: active group to post job opportunities and referring.
Admission :
For MTech good score in GATE or CSIR-JRF is required. For Research Assistant program a list of students would be shortlisted based on GATE score, and seperate test and interview would be conducted. I had AIR 6 for CSIR JRF and AIR 401 for GATE. Got shortlisted for RA program from GATE rank and then cleared the test and interview.
Faculty :
All faculties are well qualified and determined. Courses: well structured courses which would be updated accordingly. Research: faculties are leading the research and students could chose the project/faculty based on the interest. Industrial collaboration: Various industrial projects are being lead by faculties in collaboration with well reputed companies.
