M.tech Urban Planning review (VNIT, Nagpur)

Dislikes

  • Ventilation in the classroom is poor, in summer season it becomes very hot.

Course Curriculum Overview :

This course is very interesting as you can learn how a city is planned to work efficiently. The curriculum of the course is also very practical as we have to implement all our learnings from the course in the tasks we are provided.

Internships Opportunities :

After the end of 1st year we have to do a minimum of 6-8 weeks of internship which is mandatory. Students are free to do internship anywhere in India. They have to search for internship from there side because provided very less internship opportunities and the opportunity is given on the basis of CGPA. College also provide some internship within campus for students who do not find any internship outside.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

In masters we don't get any type of scholarships but those students who are admitted through GATE are provided stipend of 12400/- per month. Total course duration is 2 years which cost 4,00,000/- in total.

Campus Life :

Campus life is quiet good . College conducts various event like Ganesh Chaturthi, Sports event, etc. There are various clubs whi take the responsibility of the successful conduct of the event. Infrastructure is also very good specially Library and Sports ground.

Hostel Facilities :

PG students are provided with single seater room which is very spacious and they provide a bed, table, chair and a wardrobe. They provide LAN facility also. Hostel mess is also good, they provide variety of food and they offer meal 4 times a day.

Admission :

Only those students who are graduated in B.Plan, B.Arch or B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering are eligible for this course. Admissions are done through ccmt portal for the students who qualified GATE. After the admission process of GATE is over then for the remaining seats are filled by conducting college level entrance exam.

Faculty :

As I'm doing my masters in this college so in 2nd year we are alloted to a faculty as our guide for our thesis work. They are quite interactive and guide us to successfully complete our work. They are approachable.

Final year students are eligible for the campus placement..Indian institute of technology Bombay is one of the most renowned institute in India. Campus placement is excellent here.because it is the no 1 IIT .on an average 8-10 lakh package is normal in iits.some exceptional talents get upto 2crore per year salary.in structural engineering course every year around 90 percentage students get placement incampus and rest are generally not interested in campus placement as they are more focused in higher education like PhD.

Admission:

Admission happens through the gate exam merit list. the gate is an exam conducted by old IITs each year. where around 8 lac students appear for the exam out of which only 16% could clear the exam. in that most, top ranks get admission in IIT through the gate. top 1% of all people who give exams mostly get admitted in the IIT Bombay.
