Entrance Preview

XAT - 99 percentile. This was the best one that got converted for me in the first attempt. Was wait listed in the other. Given its a tier 1 college with good curriculum & great placement, so it was a no brainer hence went ahead

Course Curriculum Overview

It had a trimester pattern with 1st year being common for all. It was from 2nd year onwards one has to go for electives that would determine your major & minor.

Internships Opportunities

Pretty good. A lot of companies that came to campus for final hiring also offered internship.During 2007-2009 stipends could vary anywhere from 10k to 50k per month

Placement Experience

Thats the best piece. If you are looking for a job in Mktg, Finance & HR, this is the best place to opt for. Plenty of opportunities, various profiles.

College Events

Multiple - so many that i do not even remember the name of all. not being able to call out any would be injustice to the college. WOuld request to log onto official website to get a hold of names & what it covers with the scale & reach.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Mine was the last batch that went out for a petty sum of fees @ 4 lacs for the entire course incl hostel.The fee structure now has revised - Would be wise to check once on site or with the admin dept.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan - Yes, Scholarship - Not at my time as was ranked 2ndTrust you can check with faculty if so is the case. Pretty agile & flexible, so do not feel should be an issue as long as its a genuine case (would require some convincing though)

Campus Life

Plenty of options. So much that you have to decide on which ones not to participate.Life is pretty active & happening. Upto an individual how much he /she wants to learn. No dearth of opportunities whatsoever.

Hostel Facilities

Pretty cool as its all on campus. Plenty of food options.The college has now migrated to a pretty huge campus with all the facilities.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

Pretty active. Since the college started long back so most of the alumnus is at good governing position.Jobs, details etc keep flowing in on regular basis.

Exam Structure

This used to be almost once in a week phenomenon. Every other day would have an exam - as a result you are 1. Always Prepared 2. You Score Better 3. Learnings are better internalized 4. You are always under pressure (to start off & then u get used to it)

Faculty

90% of the faculty was amazing as they were veterans from indutries with n number of years of experience in the subjects they taught.The rmaining 10% is a function of electives - unlike any other college there are some brilliant teachers in certain other cases there might not be which anyways you do come to know through your seniors

Placement Experience:

In the first year, students are eligible for summer internship placements from the first term onwards. Decent number of companies visit the campus and offer roles across various domains. The placement committee provides good placement support.

Beyond the Campus Gates of GIM

Placement Experience:

The placement record has been 100% for years now. The SIP process begins in the first year and final placement process starts in the early-middle of second year. The highest package went upto 55 Lacs last year, lowest was around 12 Lacs. I plan to take direct placement from the college and start my corporate career.

Great platform to transform yourself

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is very good and faculties are also very qualified. I choose BDA because of its value in the market and my interest area. BDA of GIM is even beating it's flagship course in terms of placements. But the thing is you have to come prepared before coming to B-School. In term-1, there will be basic subjects only but companies coming for summer internship will expect more from you. So, my advice would be to invest the time students get in between admission in B-School and joining the B-School in improving their skills sets.

Remarks:

It is one of the best colleges in Tier 2 colleges. But being a tier 2 college also some cons. Study and analyse every aspect of a college before deciding on anything.

College way to enter in professional world.

Remarks:

Goa university department of management and studies is very good college for the student who was polish there knowledge through help of faculties who are expertise in there own field. It definitely help to grain more knowledge and improvements of skill but only major thing issue is of placement. There has been not proper placement over the years which should be given priority and introduction of new companies for placement should be brought. Also campus should be focused more and should be improve to some extent.

I had given the CAT examination and scored 95.36 percentile. There is no sectional cutoff for this college. 80 is the cutoff for cat. Beyond the Campus Gates of GIM

Steps of admission process were as follows: 1. Minimum 50% aggregate in Bachelor's Degree 2. Clear cutoff of CAT(approx 85%ile)/XAT(approx 80%ile)/GMAT/CMAT respectively (any one is enough) *They also have an Achiever's Round 3. Shortlisting based on overall academic background 4. Written Ability Test (WAT) - Basic opinion on some random topic is asked, fully proctored 5. Online Interview - Checks basic intellect, general awareness, concept clarity 6. Admission Letter ALL THE NECESSARY DETAILS RELATED TO THE ADMISSION PROCESS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE OFFICIAL WEBSITE OF GIM In my opinion, the selection process is rigourous enough, I was asked only relevant questions and tasks to do throughout. It sufficiently checked my academic rigor and general awareness along with basic communiaction skills. The admission process was smooth. The application fees and all other details were available on the official site of the college. The college doesn't provide any reservation benefits. I have applied for great lakes, GIM, and many more. Out which I decided to go for GIM because of its ranking and alumni base. The admission criteria of the institute are focused more on the profile rather than the scores. If you have decent scores like more than 80 percentile then you can expect a call.
