Professor Sahil Sawhney is General Manager, Strategic Initiatives at Model Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jammu. His core areas of expertise include Strategic Management, Operational Excellence, NAAC and NBA Accreditation, Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He has more than 15 years of expertise in Higher Education and the IT industry.

Professor Sawhney has filed ten patents and has published more than 15 research papers in international journals/conferences. He is a founding member of a faculty-led startup and has also generated grants worth INR 50 Lakhs. Professor Sawhney is a recipient of the 8th I3 India Innovation Startup Award, and is a Certified International Lead auditor ISO 9001:2015 and CMI level 5 certified professional.

We are proud to offer a range of new degree programs in Engineering & Technology, Management, Computer Science, and Law. These comprehensive programs are in-line with the New Education Policy (NEP-2022) and are designed to empower students and help them stand apart from the crowd in today's competitive world. 

At the undergraduate level, we provide Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) programs in Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, as well as specialized programs in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) and Cyber Security. On the other hand, at the postgraduate level, we offer Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), and Master of Technology (M.Tech) programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).

How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?

How do you tend to build an industry connect with this program?

In the endeavour to bridge the gap between academia and industry MIET and Mitsubishi Electric India Private Limited established a FA Authorized Training Centre (ATC) at the Department of Electronics & Communication and Electrical Engineering, MIET. The objective of this ATC is to conduct an industrial training program on PLC, HMI, and SCADA robotic programming courses at an advanced level. Some major approaches we take to build an industry connection with our program are Industry Collaborations, Internship Programs, Industrial Visits, Guest Lectures and Industry Experts, Industry-Driven Projects, Alumni Networks, Industry Advisory Boards and Career Development Services


What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

While inculcating the program into our curriculum, we did encounter a few challenges. We had problems with curriculum development, faculty training, industry engagement, curriculum adaptability, resource allocation, student awareness and recruitment and stakeholder acceptance. Despite these challenges, we overcame them through collaborative efforts, continuous feedback, and a commitment to excellence. Adapting to changing circumstances, actively seeking solutions, and remaining responsive to industry and student needs allowed us to successfully incorporate the program into our curriculum. 


What are the types of projects that the students are working on through this program?

Through our program, students work on a diverse range of projects that align with their chosen fields of study. Here are some types of projects that students are engaged in Research Projects, Industry Collaborative Projects, Design and Innovation Projects, Software Development Projects, and more. These provide students with hands-on experience, practical skills, and the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
