Jammu University to Introduce Unique ‘Design Your Degree’ Program to Promote Skill Development; Check Details Here

New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the University of Jammu is preparing to launch an innovative program titled ‘Design your degree’ to boost employability and innovation skills among students. The program will be offered in line with the objectives of NEP 2020.

The program was discussed during the J-K Higher Education Council Meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha. This unique program of Jammu University will aim to provide various opportunities to students through its innovative curriculum. 

Informing about the initiative, the official statement said, “The deliberations ranged from themes like multidisciplinary education, the ecosystem for research and innovation, Indian philosophy and languages and project-based learning mode, combined with needs and challenges of society".

The Jammu University program will meet the requirements of the 21st century. During the meeting, Lt Governor stated that the education system of the state should focus on solving the problem of today while implementing the NEP 2020 in Jammu Kashmir universities and colleges. 

Lt Governor said, “Journey of our Amrit Kaal will not only be about degrees but also skills and values. Identifying new sectors of employment, and learning in classrooms should contribute to changes and new solutions. No classroom can afford to teach subjects that are irrelevant in today's context.

Adding to the statement, the Governor's office said, “Research should reflect the reality of accelerated transformation. Increase interaction with leading academicians. Critical evaluation is a must for future strategy”.

With the help of skill-based learning, research, innovation, capacity building, and enhancing employability as well as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and curiosity, the state will be able to build a vibrant knowledge society, the governor further added.
