CLAT Preparation Tips

CLAT 2025 Preparation

With just 2 months left for CLAT 2025, it's crucial to streamline your preparation. This is the time to start giving mock tests, analyze your results, and make improvements. However, before diving into mocks, ensure you’re preparing for each section individually. Let’s break it down:

Preparation

With only two months left until the CLAT 2024 exam, it's crucial to have a solid strategy in place for exam day. If you haven't developed one yet, make sure to do so as soon as possible. At this stage, it's important to focus on refining your preparation.

However, if you're someone who has just started preparing, don't worry. CollegeDunia experts have crafted a strategy that works for both early and late starters.

The Basics

  • Long sitting-Deciding to appear for the CLAT 2024 exam and pursuing a career in law is not a short-term goal. Becoming a lawyer or judge is a long-term journey. This journey begins when you start preparing for CLAT. You need to develop the habit of sitting for longer durations, as success in CLAT requires more than 30 minutes to an hour of study. Your daily sitting time should be a minimum of 3-4 hours.
  • Number of mock per week-Mocks are essential for building a strong exam strategy. However, this doesn't mean you need to take a mock test every day. Instead, 2-3 mocks per week are sufficient. The primary focus should be on analyzing and revising the mocks to understand your mistakes and improve.
  • Practice of weaker sections-When you start analyzing mocks, you'll be able to identify your stronger and weaker sections. From there, you can focus on preparing for your weaker sections and revising the stronger ones. This will help save time.
  • Timetable strategy-With only two months left for CLAT, you might be considering dedicating more than 12 hours a day to study. While it's important to put in the effort, a proper strategy is also required. There are many topics to cover and an unlimited amount of current affairs to keep up with, but don’t increase your daily tasks beyond 5-6. Doing more than that can become overwhelming, leading to confusion and negatively impacting your health and motivation, especially if the results aren’t immediate.
  • Previous year question paper and current affairs- One of the best ways to stay updated on current affairs is by reviewing previous mocks, especially the current affairs section. This will give you a clear understanding of the types of questions and current events they are focusing on, allowing you to prepare accordingly.

Here we are helping you with the daily schedule, you can modify it according to your need and requirement.

Daily Schedule

Current Affairs (4-5 hours)

Breakdown:

  • New Topics- 2-3 hours (Stay updated with the latest current affairs)
  • Revision Topics-1-2 hours (Revise previously covered current affairs)
  • Focus on understanding trends and key topics from recent months. Use reliable sources for updated information.

Diverse Reading (1 hour)

  • Read a variety of articles, editorials, and legal updates. This will help improve your comprehension skills for the reading comprehension section and develop general awareness for current affairs and legal reasoning.

Sectionals (2.5 hours)

Breakdown:

  • Practice-1.5 hours (Work on individual sections like legal reasoning, quantitative techniques, English, logical reasoning)
  • Analysis-1 hour (Analyze your performance, noting mistakes and areas to improve)
  • Focus on timed sectionals to simulate real exam conditions and improve speed and accuracy.

Weak Topics Practice (2 hours)

  • Focus specifically on your weaker sections. It could be particular subjects like quantitative techniques, logical reasoning, or even specific areas within legal reasoning. Aim to strengthen your weaknesses every day.

1-2 Days per Week: Complete Current Affairs Revision

  • Dedicate 1-2 days each week solely to revising current affairs from the last few months. This will help consolidate your understanding and ensure you’re well-prepared for the GK section.

Mock Analysis

After taking a CLAT mock test, it's crucial to evaluate your progress and determine how close you are to securing admission to your dream college. Here, we provide the recommended number of attempts needed for a strong CLAT score.

CLAT Attempt

Section insights- Attempts v/s Accuracy-

Based on the expected number of questions provided, we recommend prioritizing accuracy over the sheer number of attempts to achieve a strong score. Here’s a section-wise strategy for you:

1. English

Aim to attempt a reasonable number of questions, ideally close to the cutoff, but prioritize accuracy to score well. So understanding reading speed in the language is key.

2. Current Affairs

Current affairs section typically rewards factual knowledge, so attempt questions confidently where you are sure of the answer. Focus on accuracy here.

3. Data Interpretation

Since the number of questions is lower here, accuracy is important. Attempt less but ensure accuracy, as even a small number of wrong answers could impact your score.

4. Logical Reasoning

A higher number of questions in this section allows room for more attempts, but accuracy is equally important. Logical reasoning often involves traps.

5. Legal Reasoning

This section has the highest number of questions, and since it's completely based on concepts, attempting more questions can increase your chances of scoring well.

Previous year papers

For any exam, reviewing previous years' papers is essential. While the CLAT exam pattern tends to change, understanding the pattern isn't the most critical aspect. What truly matters is recognizing the types of questions that are asked. That's why we are providing you with the previous years' exam papers to help you familiarize yourself with the question types and better prepare.

Ques. Why is NLU Delhi not a part of CLAT?

● Top Answer By Divya Raturi on 13 Aug 24

There are 27 NLUs in India at present. Some of the top NLUs are- National Law University Delhi (NLU Delhi), NLSIU Bangalore, NALSAR Hyderabad and GNLU Gandhinagar. NLU Delhi does not consider CLAT results for admissions. It conducts its own All India Law Entrance Test (AILET). 25 NLUs offer admissions based on CLAT results. NLU Meghalaya also does not conduct its admissions based on CLAT. Furthermore, NLU Delhi is not a part of the Consortium of NLUs.  Dr. Ranbir Singh, the founder of NLU Delhi, gave out a reason in 2012, stating that one of the reasons was that NLU Delhi would be CLAT's 13th Law School. Consequently, it would be the 13th pick when students filled out their choices. There are some financial and administrative concerns as well that have kept NLU Delhi from accepting CLAT results for admissions. ...Read more

Ques. What is considered a good rank in CLAT exam?

● Top Answer By Pallavi Jha on 13 Aug 24

For admission into one of the top 10 NLUs, a general candidate must score 80-90 marks in CLAT. The cut-offs for Tier-2 and Tier-3 NLUs are lower. When taking into account past years’ cut-offs in terms of rank, the gap in the cut-offs of top 5-6 NLUs is not as great as it first appears. Here are the CLAT 2024 Cutoff Ranks for UG admissions at some of the top NLUs (Fourth Allotment List): NLU Name NIRF Law Ranking (2024) Opening and Closing Ranks 2024    (4th Allotment, General Category) NLSIU Bangalore 1 1-102 Nalsar University of Law, Hyderabad 3  4-167 NUJS Kolkata 4  140-279 (BA LLB) GNLU Gandhinagar 8 8-464 NLU Lucknow 20 357-764 I hope this will give you an idea of the rank required in CLAT UG for admissions into some of the top NLUs....Read more

Which subject I choose in 11th class for clat
R
ruchi ranjan

When preparing for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) from Class 11, it’s essential to build a strong foundation in relevant subjects. Here’s how you can strategically choose your subjects:

English and Literature:

  • These subjects refine your language skills, which are crucial for tasks like legal research, document drafting, and constructing compelling arguments.
  • A good grasp of English will also help you excel in the English section of the CLAT exam.

History and Social Studies:

  • These subjects contribute to a deeper understanding of societal norms, government structures, and historical precedents that shape legal systems.
  • Knowledge of history and social studies enhances your ability to analyze legal issues in a broader context.

Mathematics and Sciences:

  • While not directly related to law, these subjects foster critical thinking, analytical abilities, and logical reasoning—all vital skills for legal problem-solving.
  • Strengthening your mathematical aptitude will be beneficial for the Mathematics/Quantitative Aptitude section of the CLAT exam.

As per the official notification by the Consortium of NLUs, there is no age limit to appear for the CLAT 2024 exam. Students who are 17 years old and will be appearing for their class 12 exams in the upcoming year are eligible to apply for CLAT. However, they must meet other eligibility criteria, including having completed class 12th or equivalent in any stream from a recognized board. For General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI categories, a minimum of 45% marks in the 10+2 exam is required, while SC/ST category students need to score at least 40%. So, if you’re 17 and meet these requirements, you can definitely consider applying for CLAT!
