Gokhale Memorial Girls College was founded in the year 1938 and is located in Kolkata, West Bengal. The College is affiliated to the University of Kolkata.

The College offers Bachelors of Science (B.Sc.) and Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) Honours and Major programs. B.Sc. Honours/ Major program is of three-year duration with six and two specializations respectively. Similarly, B.A. Honours/ Major program is also of three-year duration with nine and two specializations respectively.

In Gokhale College, selection for provisional admission to any B.A. / B.Sc. (Major/ Honours) course is done on the basis of their marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
Students who have passed 10+2/ HSC examination from West Bengal or any equivalent Board and have passed in English with full marks not less than 100 are considered eligible for admission.
Candidates belonging to SC/ST, must obtain minimum 40% marks in the aggregate and 40% marks in the subject or related subject.

Those who are seeking admission to B.Sc. Economic Honours, should have passed 10+2 with Mathematics from West Bengal Council of H.S. Education or its equivalent Board.
Applicants who want to get admission in B.Sc. Mathematics Honours, must have passed 10+2 in Mathematics.
Candidates who have cleared Business Mathematics examination are not considered eligible for admission into B.Sc. Mathematics Honours course.
Candidates who have passed 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry subjects are eligible to apply for admission to B.Sc. Honours in Chemistry.

Key Points to remember for B.A. Admission:

Candidates who belong to SC/ ST category must have obtained minimum 40% marks in aggregate or in the related subject at 10+2 level.
Those who want to opt for Elective English must have scored at least 60% marks in English at 10+2 level.
Aggregate marks are calculated by adding the score of top 4 subjects as per the obtained marks, excluding marks obtained in compulsory Environmental Studies/ Education subject.
If Environment Studies/ Education is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks then it is considered during the calculation of aggregate marks.

Friendly seniors and the plants and flower's that are planted.
The toilets are clean and there is availability of a sanitary napkin vending machine

Dislikes

The small infrastructure of the college and lack of room
Teachers are very rude and not friendly at all.

Admission:

The admission was smooth, but in the payment process, I didn't get my money back from few colleges I applied for but didn't continue. All the candidates should keep an update of news and links of admission. SC and ST will get benifits along with OBCs, Calcutta University has bad placements and the syllabus has become a Little bit difficult. Instead opt for a college where there is better placement.

The environment of campus is great like there are green plants everywhere which makes the college more appealing.
The college structures is quite aesthetically pleasing

Dislikes

The campus could have been bigger as the area is very small for otger activities.
The college does not have thier own auditorium which is necessary for a college.

Admission:

The admission is merit based and the process is completely online. The application dates would be uploaded on the college websites with the deadline mentioned. You just have to complete the applications form and attached necessary documents accordingly. After the application submission, the merit based admission list would be published by the college authorities based on your 12th result. When your name appears on the admission list, the college immediately calls or email you to complete the payment process and you will be added to the respective batches whatsapp group and there would be a document verification process to secure your admission. Eligibility for the course is generally total 55% in 12th class but for the reserved category the cut off was lower than the general which was 45 - 50% in 12th class.

Likes

Faculty is quite qualified. Professors are humble and friendly.
The location of the college is great. Nandan, and maidan become the main go to spots when you don't have a class or two in between.

Dislikes

Campus life is zero. Not much space for many activities.
Infrastructure is average. There is a dearth of classrooms and also no proper auditorium is available.

Admission:

Eligibility was 65% in class 12 boards Application form was available on the college's official website. Admission dates and documents needed for verification along with other necessary information was duely provided. The merit list publication style could be more organised

The seniors are very helpful and friendly
The social atmosphere is welcoming and easy

Dislikes

The classes are not conducted properly at times in the English Department
All the teachers are not punctual and at times don't inform the students if classes are cancelled

Admission:

The entire admission process was carried out online, the process was completely free and no application fees was required. The process was application was conducted smoothly though a little latency in time was observed for both publishing the application form and the name list of the eligible candidates .

The library of the college consisting of all rare, first hand copies of expensive books.
The various seminars that takes place in the college based on such different issues.

Dislikes

The college doesn't conduct fests or other programmes like that.
The administration is often rude and irresponsible.

Admission:

The course is eligible for students who have secured atleast 50% in their 12th boards. The application form is available on college website but there was no application fees during 2021 due to covid 19. Reservation benefits are available for SC, ST, OBC and PWD candidates on submission of required documents. The admission process is quite smooth but the website can be improved.

The best thing about GMGC is that it provides for a very homely environment...it really feels like second home...if someone is looking for a college life where they can enjoy more and study less then this is not the place but for introverts it is apt
Campus is descent with a quite good canteen,decent washrooms(even for the physically challenged),sanitary pad vending machines coolers

Dislikes

Classrooms sometimes become suffocating due to space crunch
Administration could have been a bit more organized

Admission:

Our admission process started in July 2021 amidst the 2nd wave of the pandemic, hence there wasn't any entrance exam and the selection was done on the basis of merit i.e., performance in the boards. Merit lists were published on the official website on the basis of the merit score acquired by the student. The application form is made available on the official website with the necessary details about the fee structure. Reservation was there for the SC st and obc though I applied for the general category. The admission process is much smoother and easier. the only improvement that may be applied is that, though in today's era of digital world we need to keep pace with the digital world, however, if the payment for admission is made possible both online and offline mode then it would be easier and helpful for those who still hesitate in making payments online.

The eligibility of my course is 3 years. I had to submit the online forms and then wait for the merit lists to be out, once my name came up, I gave the admission fees and got the admission. The process was really smooth and hassle-free.

Admission:

The admission process was merit-based. After the declaration of ISC results, you have to fill in the application form (check the website regularly). A merit list is published and you are called for counseling. If you don't make it through the first counseling, 2-3 more rounds are conducted depending on the availability of the seats. The admission criteria for Economics (hons) is 60% in aggregate and 60% in maths.

College infrastructure is at its best providing all possible facilities and equipment which could be useful and required or necessary in respect to the course. I always liked the delicious edibles served by the college cafeteria, they always have so well-maintained and hygienic. These kind of things I have looked for my future and get that easily.
