- The best thing about GMGC is that it provides for a very homely environment...it really feels like second home...if someone is looking for a college life where they can enjoy more and study less then this is not the place but for introverts it is apt
- Campus is descent with a quite good canteen,decent washrooms(even for the physically challenged),sanitary pad vending machines coolers
Dislikes
- Classrooms sometimes become suffocating due to space crunch
- Administration could have been a bit more organized
Course Curriculum Overview :
I was firm enough from the end of my class 12 that I would pursue psychology and had heard that Gokhale is one of the best colleges regarding psychology honors. The faculty is good, and almost all of them are approachable enough. The class strength of 50 is smoothly managed by 6 faculty members and 2 lab assistants who are also an integral part of the department. Necessary study materials are provided to us timely. The lectures given are very helpful..even the PowerPoint presentation we are shown also acts as a help. The college conducts a mid-semester examination which is very helpful, and the students who do not succeed to acquiring the minimum marks (40%of 25) attend the remedial classes arranged specially for them The only improvement that is suggestable is that if we are notified about the mid-semester exam a bit earlier it would really be a help.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There are a total of 6 semesters and for each semester one needs to pay a net amount of approximately 7,500-8,000 at the start of each new semester. The college provides Kanyasree prakalpa which acts as a financial aid for many. As I am a pursuing student in the course I cannot provide much information about the job opportunities.
Campus Life :
The college conducts an annual program every year where one witnesses different culturally rich programs which is held sometime between March and May. The annual sports held every year needs to be mentioned which is held in the month of December. The classrooms have ac, projectors, and desktops and our department especially has a departmental library from where students can issue books. The college library is very rich and one can find very rare books here. The college very often arranges for knowledgeable seminars, and workshops, where famous personalities address the students. Recently a general health care campaign was organized where students faculties non-teaching staff got regular health check-ups done. The NSS often arranges for programs and the cultural club also takes the initiative to organize cultural programs.
Admission :
Our admission process started in July 2021 amidst the 2nd wave of the pandemic, hence there wasn't any entrance exam and the selection was done on the basis of merit i.e., performance in the boards. Merit lists were published on the official website on the basis of the merit score acquired by the student. The application form is made available on the official website with the necessary details about the fee structure. Reservation was there for the SC st and obc though I applied for the general category. The admission process is much smoother and easier. the only improvement that may be applied is that, though in today's era of digital world we need to keep pace with the digital world, however, if the payment for admission is made possible both online and offline mode then it would be easier and helpful for those who still hesitate in making payments online.
