NIT Surat: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 514 Reviews

SVNIT boasts a highly qualified and experienced faculty, with approximately 90% holding PhDs, primarily from prestigious institutions like IITs. The faculty-to-student ratio varies, typically around 1:10 to 1:20, ensuring personalized attention for students. The faculty is known for its friendly, approachable nature, except for a few exceptions, and is supportive of both academic and extracurricular activities. They employ a mix of traditional and modern teaching methods, including blackboards and PowerPoint presentations.

The institute conducts two main exams per semester, the Mid-Semester (30 marks) and End-Semester (50-100 marks), along with quizzes, assignments, and tutorials. The exams are moderately challenging, with a low failure rate. Faculty members are actively involved in research, with numerous publications and projects, providing students with exposure to industry-oriented learning. Despite a few criticisms regarding outdated curricula and less effective teaching by some faculty members, the overall faculty quality is commendable, particularly in departments like Mechanical and Chemical Engineering.

Highly good, for our department it is good 25:1 I think so. All the faculties are highly skilled, all are approachable that is great advantage. First Student will face MidSem Exam then after End Sem Exam are there, every subject has it's individual attendance, quiz as well, also the tutorial/assignment things. It happens many times student fails, so supplymentary exam option is there with good gap, so people may study in those duration to rectify the mistake.

The faculty-student ratio is 1:10, and most faculty members are approachable. Abhishek Acharya sir, who teaches Analog Electronics, is one of the best faculty members. His teaching style is highly effective, as he explains every topic on the board, solves each question thoroughly, and gives a deep understanding of semiconductor devices. Suresh Dahiya sir is also excellent in Communication subjects like Antenna Theory and Satellite Communication, with great subject command. The examination pattern includes Mid-Semester exams (30 marks) and End-Semester exams (50 or 100 marks depending on the subject). Apart from these, two quizzes are conducted during the semester for continuous assessment.

Teachers are very encouraging and supportive to the core subjects and support to go deep in research and development ,not only in IT fields. Teaching style is interesting and friendly. However, some teschers teach on whiteboard and nothing material they have. But some only teach in PPT that is sonewhere boring but still those are also knowledgeable.

The faculty to student ratio is 1:65.The faculty is very good and it depends on students how the treat them And how they get in return .I liked Alka Mungray maam and She taught and looked after each and every student.I didn't like Parag Thakur, he taught us FCP and didn't like the way he taught. He only made us to coy and write and mug up.There are two exams in each semester one is Mid sem and other is End Mostly all the students pass but 1-4 students sometime fails in individual exams. The course is very much relevant.

The faculties for mechanical and ai/cse branch is very good but for some lowerr branch is not that great. There are 2 exams conducted per semister of 30 and 100 marks and these are not too difficult to score good.
