  • the size of the campus, its abit on the smaller side compared to other iits
  • some of the professors are very narrow minded even though they are very educated and skilled

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course B.Arch is for architecture and so far I have studied for 3 semesters and am currently in my 4th one, and I can say the course curriculum is very compact and knowledgeable for people aspiring to become an architect, not only that but we also get to experience practical usage since we get some projects to design and do. The only part I don't like is the frequency of assignments given to us. sometimes we are free the entire week or sometimes we have 10 assignments to submit in a single week.

Internships Opportunities :

We get a lot of different opportunities for interships, different companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft offer internships as well. depending on which field you want your career to be, you will get an intern in that field, like design or web development to name a few.

Placement Experience :

IIT Roorkee has some of the best campus placements not only among all iits but all over india, depending on the branch and the job feild we are applying for we can expect an annual salary of atleast 15 lakhs to 20 lakhs. only condition is our grade point should be above 6 or 7.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Iit roorkee provides scholarships on many bases, 1 is family income, 2 is academic score, 3 is if need be they can apply for it and then write an exam for it, which will have an interview after once those are cleared a scholorship is given. and campus employment opportunities are alot as long as we are maintaining a good grade.

Campus Life :

The campus life is great, even though the campus has so many different branches everyone gets to meet each other through clubs or other interactions that get people to meet each other. The campus provides many places for people to work together like the library or Sac or Mac.

Hostel Facilities :

the hostels are one of the only downsides to iit roorkee Since the hostels are very old the whole infrastructure is not very comfortable to live in. The hostels however have large areas for activities like sports, and areas to sit together. the food provided is not the greatest but not bad either.

Admission :

Getting into iit roorkee was quite an adventure. It all started with me filling an online form, where i had to provide my details such as personal information and school grade. then came the nerve racking part the enterance exams, i had to 1st clear Jee Mains and then Jee Advanced then i had to fill college preferences according to the rank i got after results came out, there were 7 rounds of this process called josaa councelling. and after this i got iit roorkee through josaa councelling and i got my college. My reservation benefits was that my rank wouldnt have gotten me iit roorkee if not for reservation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I believe Architecture course curriculum is pretty heactic but one thing I dislike here is that all the optional courses are made compulsory and we end up having 8-9 subjects per semester. The curriculum is available on the college website.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is only dedicated to bookish knowledge, they dont allow us for surveys, site visits, case studies or educational trips which is crucial for application of the knowledge, but no they think we are sufficiently taught by books only

Placement Experience:

Placements are provided to student in the final year of their course. Internships are provided in the prefinal year of their course. Many big companies came to our campus like google, microlsoft, amazon, deollite, godrez. If a student Academy score is good and his skills are good then he/she will get definitely placement. Average placement of my branch is 10 lakh per year. Highest placement of my branch is 48 lpa last year and lower was 1 lpa, this data is for last year only. 90% of the students get placements and the remaing 10% go for M.arch or startup of their own. I am not open to discuss my plans after I get my degree. I am a little bit confused also I am a first year student.

From 7th Semester. Amazon, Google, Microsoft, etc. 2.9 Cr is the highest package and 18 LPA is the average. And for B.Arch. the highest package is 40LPA and the average is 13LPA. The companies which come are - Amazon, JP Morgan, Zomato, Mastercard, etc. 90% placement in a year. Will take a job for experience and start an architecture firm as I'll get a license after the completion of the degree by the Council of Architecture.

Placement Experience:

As being an IIT the placement of the college are superb and as per the standards of IIT. The college has a record of 100% placement. Architect Hafeez Contractor, C P Kukreja Associates, Shilpa Architects, DLF, Christopher Charles Benninger Architects are one of the top recruitment companies for B.Arch. The placement committee plays a very important role during the placement round of the campus. The placement committee is very supportive and totally guides us during every round of recruitment. The highest package was around 45 LPA and the average package was around 16 LPA.
