Remarks :

Doing any programme from the IIT group is a great addition to that profile and to do B.Arch from IT Kharagpur was all that's required to get a successful career in the field. IIT Kharagpur is among the best institutions under the famous group as per 2020 NIRF rankings . The best part was that it was situated in my home-state also. To become eligible for admissions to this institute in B.Arch candidates must hold a good academic profile and seat allocation is based on AAT exam score of applicants.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Except Engineering in 15 specialsitions, IIT Kharagpur also offers B.Arch following the best course curriculum. The institute has specialised faculty members giving good implementation practices along with the concepts. The team is pretty large as the institute covers 15+ departments and 9 centres of excellence. I was overall pretty happy with the experience I had at IITK.

Class Size : 80Course Fees : INR 394000 per year

Internships Opportunities :

Many famous companies and groups from Architecture field were there in the internship round. Although the programme structure at IIT Kharagpur itself was a great thing for our knowledge but the work internship added something new to it

Placement Experience :

Our college, IIT Kharagpur is always counted among the best placement holder institutes and not only Engineering but B.Arch is also an important part of this. Including visitors such as Microsoft, Tata consultancy, Deloitte, Bajaj, ITC etc around 200 companies participated in this round for our batch and made it possible to get an average package worth INR 15 LPA. The overall performance was good as the placement was 85% and highest package bagged was INR 1 CPA.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The total fee for B.Arch programme in IIT Kharagpur is INR 3.94 Lacs Including all tuition/academic charges. The students will be paying this fee in finalised shifts throughout the programme which reduces the pressure of paying high fee from those who cannot afford such structures.

Campus Life :

I don't know much about other branches, but for a student like me from B.Arch it was the best experience possible to have. There was nothing missing in the campus life whether related to academics or Arts field all sort of activities were there and they were adjusted pretty well to have a good overall schedule. Various clubs and committies like the Social club, Technical Club, E-cell, Consulting and Placement committee were there to organise their respective events. The campus is pretty large in area also which makes it possible for arrangement of numerous sports also.

Hostel Facilities :

Our institute gives good accommodation services also, but for the first two years I did my study as a day scholar and for the remaining time lived in a PG near IIT Kharagpur itself. It was pretty good to experience such diversity during my B.arch days as it taught me to gp ahead in any sort of condition.

Admission :

To become eligible for admissions in the B.Arch programme the interested candidates must fulfill the eligibilities and have a valid score in the AAT entrance exam. The seats get allocated only as per the merit list prepared on the basis of candidates entrance score.

Pros and Cons

Placement Experience:

The placement cell is in charge of it. It varies every year depending on the openings, recession, job vacancies. And all the three sections, as in Film Studies, Design, and Animation have different number of companies coming for campussing.

Almost 70-80 % of the students get placed in msc statistics, and the average package is around 7-8LPA. There are many private banks, consultancies and other private firms who visit for placements. One can also opt for research after completion of the course.

Placement Experience:

Recession is going on since last few years and being a private college obviously that has affected placements in our college also. The current situation of placement is not really good. Among students from all branches which each may have like 150 students, only 20 something got placed on campus. It is said that companies like TCS, Capegemini, Wipro, Amazon, Zscaler etc comes to campus for hiring but most just come and don't hire. This year highest package was 26.5 lakhs by only 2 students from our department, CSE.
