Graduation the best time.

Entrance Preview :

I got into this college based on my score at GCET (God common entrance examination) i opted for this college due to its well known facts of best faculties, proper attention towards individual students, Best infrastructure, Best location, Good transport etc.

Course Curriculum Overview :

PCCE offers four courses i.e Computer Engineering, Information technology Engineering, Electronics and telecommunication and Mechanical engineering steams. Frankly speaking, the syllbus of the goa board is not helpful and advanced enough when it comes to research work. It focusses mostly on theory and content is restricted to syllabus of goa board. There are in total 8 semisters in the four year course. Each semister contains two internal tests in which students get a chance to score as much possible. There is no doubt that the teaching in pcce and focus on curriculam is such that a student can excel with a good score in goa board. But for research if any, a student has to spend extra efforts independently.

Internships Opportunities :

Yes my college does provide internship opportunities but it is mainly restricted to the toppers of the college. I cannot comment about the stipend since I have not gone through the process.

Placement Experience :

There were three fixed companies who offered placement opportunities to PCCE students during my time., Tata consultancy Services, Persistent systems limited, Tech mahindra, Infosys, cognizant and IVP (indus valley partners) also offers placements now. TCS offered direct placements to top 5 rankers of each stream during my time. The package offered ranged from 3.3 lakhs to 8 lakhs. Aroung 50-60 students were placed via campus in my batch.

College Events :

There was an event dedicated to every stream every year. I.e Computer stream had their own event, ETC had theirs etc. Apart from that there is a annual cultural event MITHYA in which all streams could compete with each other and the winner would be the stream with max points of the sub events. There would be singing, dance, fashion show, mute beat and various others events under this. Also hackathon events are organised frequently. Technical sessions are also conducted. recently pcce has started hosting TECHYON, annual inter college tech fest.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

If compared with GEC, the fee structure of PCCE is expensive. But it is feasible. The fee on an average is 50,000 -55000 per semister. But the fee can be attributed to the good faculty, infrastusture, laboratories, location etc. Examination fee for each semister is extra which is around 1000 to 2000. I dont remember the exact figures.

Campus Life :

In terms of gender ratio I can say that boys and girls were almost equal in number. Campus life at PCCE was average. PCCE does not have a huge campus. But there are good places nearby outside the campus like cofee shops etc. PCCE offers sports competitions like table tennis, bedminton, football, cricket, volleyball etc. Also the best performers get extra marks added to their academics. PCCE has best labs among the 4 engineering colleges in goa. Hence lab experience there is the best. Also pcce organises robotics, debates and various others technical fests every year.

Hostel Facilities :

PCCE provides hostel for girl students only. But there are my PG's nearby suitable for boys. The average rental per month at PG is 5000. The mess food offered by PCCE is good and hygienic. Variety is offered and also at a cheap price. Also there are several restaurants nearby next to the college.

Exam Structure :

As I have already mentioned above, the four year course is divided into 8 semisters. i.e each year has 2 semisters. Each semister has 2 internal tests and then a final exam. There were lab sessions regularly based on different subjects. The frequency if the exams were such that there was enough time to prepare for exams and also give some time for enjoyment. Some days were quite hectic when it came to lab sessions and file submissions. Apart from that life seemed to be chilled out. But there was pressure during the semister examinations.

Admission :

Based on the score of GCET, we had rounds of campus selection in which according to our ranking, we had got a preference to choose the college and stream. We had to fill a form and then on a pre-specified date we had to gather at DTE (directorate of technical education) On the call of our name we had to choose the college and stream. Once that is done, we had to go to the respective college and confirm our admission.

Faculty :

I would give 4 on 5 to assess the faculty of your college. Based on my personal experience I can say that for some of the subjects, this college has the most experienced faculty. Whereas for few subjects the faculty are new and they do not have hands on knowledge on the subject matter. I have seen that the faculty is serious enough when it comes to imparting knowledge. Also they make it clear to give personal attention to students. Also when we have any doubts, the faculty puts in additional effort to solve it. Also the content provided during the lectures is quite good enough to be reliable.

Placement Experience:

Final students are eligible for placements. Companies such as turtle mint, findem, Nokia, IFB, Samsung, Adani power, HDFC Bank, Tesco, Upskill, ONGC, Jio, and many more. Last year almost everyone got placed. Average package is 10 LPA. This year though placements were not as expected because of economic depression. Even after the placements, lay offs have become common. Hence to cope up with the competition we need to keep upskilling.

The placements have been quite decent and have had 100% placements in the past. The average comes to be a bit average but the highest package so far might be above 44LPA. The main branchea company hire students from are CSE ECE and EEE. The number of students getting placed from CSE and ECE are very good and have good salary packages around 10LPA

Placement Experience:

IIT Goa offers campus placements to its students. Students become eligible for campus placements in their final year of study, i.e., in the 7th or 8th semester. Several reputed companies visit IIT Goa for campus placements, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Power, etc. Higher placements offer is of 1.2cr and average placement offers are16-25 lac per annum. The percentage of students getting placed during campus placements at IIT Goa is quite high, with around 90% of students getting placed every year. The remaining students generally opt for higher studies or pursue entrepreneurship. In case no campus placement is offered, students can explore other options for employability, such as applying for jobs through job portals, professional networking sites, or by directly contacting companies. They can also consider pursuing higher education or research in their field of interest or starting their own business.
