College Review

Remarks :

College canteen could and should be improved. There have been many complaints regarding this and the college doesn't take any action. ACs have now been installed in labs.

College Events :

Technical event: Techyon, Cultural event: Mithya, Dahi Handi, Management event: Bigg Leap, Aarush, Sports Event: Kurukshetra, The level of events held is pretty good. The participants are from all the 4 departments (Computer, IT, Mechanical, ETC). There about 960 students battling out for the Mithya and the Sports Event Title every year. Technical events are all India level events.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Expensive. The fees are about 75000 per semester now and the infrastructure provided compared to the fees the college charges isn't good enough. The college doesn't have it's own ground. The college barely facilitates the participation of students in sports. However, the new principal has taken interest and is slowly trying to change this.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is no scholarship for this college. However, SC and ST and OBC get some kind of rebate on their college fees. The general category has had to suffer and pay much more and the fees in full amount every semester.

Campus Life :

Campus life is fun. Bunking and chilling is cool. Gender neutral and no incidences of ragging. It is considered to be one of the best colleges in Goa for engineering. There is no restrictions for your gender, sexual orientation, race, religion or politics.

Hostel Facilities :

There is no Hostel facility for the college. Every student travels from far off places. Verna is mainly an industrial area and the college is located just 5kms away from the main industrial area. The college is just next to the National Highway.

Alumni/Alumna :

Rarely. Very few of my seniors are still in touch with me. The Juniors don't even bother contacting their seniors for help unless it's for help in their project work.

Admission :

Always have been inclined to understand and know how a computer system works. The college comes under Goa University. We had to answer the Goa Common Entrance Test and through merit, I got an opportunity to join the college. The GCET is generally held in May. The results are out by end of May and the admission process begins in June.

Faculty :

The college has about 20 lecturers in our stream. Average age of the lecturers is around 30. Most of the lecturers have only done their B.E. and some have completed their M.E. Sadly, most of them have barely any experience in teaching. Very few lecturers really are keen on teaching it correctly. The rest just want you to mug up all of the text books.

Placement Experience:

Final students are eligible for placements. Companies such as turtle mint, findem, Nokia, IFB, Samsung, Adani power, HDFC Bank, Tesco, Upskill, ONGC, Jio, and many more. Last year almost everyone got placed. Average package is 10 LPA. This year though placements were not as expected because of economic depression. Even after the placements, lay offs have become common. Hence to cope up with the competition we need to keep upskilling.

Placement Experience:

The placements have been quite decent and have had 100% placements in the past. The average comes to be a bit average but the highest package so far might be above 44LPA. The main branchea company hire students from are CSE ECE and EEE. The number of students getting placed from CSE and ECE are very good and have good salary packages around 10LPA

Placement Experience:

IIT Goa offers campus placements to its students. Students become eligible for campus placements in their final year of study, i.e., in the 7th or 8th semester. Several reputed companies visit IIT Goa for campus placements, including Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Power, etc. Higher placements offer is of 1.2cr and average placement offers are16-25 lac per annum. The percentage of students getting placed during campus placements at IIT Goa is quite high, with around 90% of students getting placed every year. The remaining students generally opt for higher studies or pursue entrepreneurship. In case no campus placement is offered, students can explore other options for employability, such as applying for jobs through job portals, professional networking sites, or by directly contacting companies. They can also consider pursuing higher education or research in their field of interest or starting their own business.
