Remarks :
Everything from academics, extracurricular activities, atmosphere, management is just awesome. It is like after passing out from college a person will feel like going back again and spend some more time in the college campus. Spending time with all genius persons around is like living into a complete different world altogether.
Entrance Preview :
GATE 2012 in BT stream 45th rank, 99.69 percentile, IT is among one of the best technical colleges of India and also due to it's an awesome location.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum was very flexible with most of the subjects being elective subjects. There are only a few core subjects that teach the basics of biomedical engineering, otherwise, the rest all are elective subjects and the students are free to choose electives from any subject of the same department or even any other department like computer science, mechanical engineering, etc.
Internships Opportunities :
Mainly people go abroad for an internship. Here in India also most of the well-known companies come and a student gets internship easily even if they apply themselves in the company. I was selected for an internship at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan.
Placement Experience :
The first phase of placement starts in IIT Bombay on December 1st. Almost all the well-known companies of all branch visit the campus. Placement varies from year to year but it is more than 70 - 75%. The rest of the students who did not get placed are either who don't want to go for placements and want to try something else. The package also differs from company to company but still, a decent package is offered.
College Events :
IIT Bombay has different festivals like Techfest which is a technical festival and happens in January every year. Mood Indigo is one of the well known and it involves participation from many countries every year. It is scheduled in December every year.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure is feasible. The facilities that are provided on the college campus are much more than the fees charged to a student. The mess fees at my time are Rs 13000. The total fees at that time were around Rs 75000 per year including academic, hostel, and mess fees.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
In M.Tech. the scholarship is given by MHRD and it covers all your fees and other expenses. Many other scholarships are also provided by IIT Bombay and a list of the same is available on the IIT Bombay website also. The loan facility is also provided by the Canara bank and SBI bank which are there inside the college campus.
Campus Life :
Campus life is just awesome. I can say that it is one of the best time that one can spend in his/ her life. A lot of extracurricular events which include music, debates, leadership events, swimming events, sports events like cricket, football, hockey, table tennis, tennis championship, robotics event like underwater robotics competition. A lot of workshops on various programming languages, hacking, learning different languages like French, German, etc are also conducted. Boys are more in number as compared to girls. Campus life is just awesome with complete freedom of whatever you want to do, learn, and enjoy.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostels are good. Food is very good and the fees charged for the hostel and mess is not more if the quality is seen. Rooms are sharing in the first year of M.Tech. But in a second-year single room is given to students and the room was awesome with an awesome location near to Powai lake.
Alumni/Alumna :
The Alumni network is very strong with a separate alumni office and alumni body. Alumni come to give talks during placement sessions and a lot of help you get from the seniors and alumni at various levels. Alumni are invited to various college events and they were sent a newsletter of what is going on in IIT Bombay every month to keep them updated.
Exam Structure :
The curriculum is very hectic and you will rarely find time in IIT Bombay. Too many assignments and quizzes are given but it is all fun. Exams and lab focus more on logical and conceptual questions rather than on theory.
Faculty :
The faculty of the college is well qualified with degrees from well-known universities like Harvard, Oxford, etc. They focus on teaching the concepts of their subjects and it was really fun attending the lectures. All the faculty are masters of their own area.
