Review for M.Sc. physics in iitg

Remarks :

If you are hard working and self learner these are the best institutions for you. But if you are slow learmer and depends on lectures you are going to suffer very much. They will provide you the best facilities but not the best lectures.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Overall I want to say, if you think in iit you will very good professor then you're going to be disappointed. Most of them are not good teaching. But some are very good. Every professor have a great knowledge but in class they are not good. Exam pattern is like, in semester ( 4 month duration) you will have 2 exam. One minor ( mid sem) and one major(end sem). Also before both you will have quizzes of weightage 10% and 30%for minor and 50% for major. There is relative grading system.

Placement Experience :

There is campus selection for different branches. But for MSc people there is nothing. They don't give stipend for MSc students. PhD students get stipend from csir. And mtech students get it through gate. There is very less opportunity for interns

College Events :

There are many events. 1. Alcheringa is my favorite. In this event people from all the India come to participate in different competition in dance singing rapping etc. It's a three to 4 day event. 2. Technis is tech event. In this event students participate from all over India. It is a three days event. Similarly there are more than half dozen if events.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fees was feasible for such a premier institution. But now a days there is fees hike. And don't have any idea about new fees structure. For me it was about 120000 rupees for the whole two years of the course. MSc fees is quite low comparison to btech.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

You can get loan easily from bank as the iit are one of the most reputed college. But there is very poor system of scholarship. They have merit cum means scholarship for general - obc. In my time I was getting 3000 for fees wavier and 4000 for a sem. Mean 7000 only in a sem.

Campus Life :

They have one of the finest labs there for me. Each departments have their own labs. They have central Library, mechanical workshop, play ground, sports club. Almost every club you can imagine every sports you know in india.

Hostel Facilities :

Yes for iit you are supposed to stay in hostel. There hostrls are quite good. You get almost all the facility you need. High speed internet connection, washing machine, single bed room, mess and canteen in all hostels and all these facilities are included in your fees.

Alumni/Alumna :

There are different pages grouos on facebook. You can talk and post your problems where you can get solutions for everything. Seniors are the most helpful persons. Even if you are not from the same department they will help you.

Admission :

Through JAM( joint admission in MSc) 2016. First you have to fill a form of jam in oct Or nov month. This exam is done in different subjects like physics chemistry maths and others too. Exan is totally computer based. After cracking the jam. There will be online counselling, in which you have to give you're preference of college. According to your rank and seat availability you will be given option book seat. Reserved seat are also there.

Faculty :

I want to say, if you think in iit you will very good professor then you're going to be disappointed. Most of them are not good teaching. But some are very good. Every professor have a great knowledge but in class they are not good

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is at par with top institutions and often we find questions from class appearing in prestigious exams such as CSIR-NET, GATE , JEST. Real world relevance is less if only the curriculum is considered but often professors suggest various materials that helps in building recent knowledge and help immensely for doing research works.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason behind choosing this course is my deep interest in research area as our department shows good result in research domain .The curriculum provides us some topics that are to be deeply understood like we are imagining those topics in 3-D way and that will helps us in future aspects. The thing that need to be changed in our curriculum is course pattern itself because it lacks familiarity with CSIR - NET syllabus. The exams are held in the month of June and December and the difficulty level of the exam is from moderate to hard

placement from my course is not good, as many students pursuing this course goes for acedemic career. so they take no placements from the college itself. Still students gets placement in indian oil, or other oil companies. my plan after getting the degree is to go for proffesor post in college or university

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm very fond of biology subject from my school days onwards, being it my favourite subject I choose to study zoology in my Bsc and Msc and aiming to persue the lectureship in future. The exam are conducted in a semester way, two semester in year and sessional exams in each semester following with seminars, projects, assignments, practicals. The difficulty level of the exam is moderate for me.
