Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is at par with top institutions and often we find questions from class appearing in prestigious exams such as CSIR-NET, GATE , JEST. Real world relevance is less if only the curriculum is considered but often professors suggest various materials that helps in building recent knowledge and help immensely for doing research works.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The tution fee is often waived off for residents of Assam as per the govt. Of Assam direction. Also if you have BPL certificate then the tution fee only is waived off. The tution fee is 14000-15000 INR (Highest fee is for Btec 1lac/year approx, for MBA it is 45k - 50k per year). In addition you have to pay about 2K to attend semester exams. Hostel fee is about 3k-4k/year excluding the mess fee which is about 1.5k - 2k/month. The students have many scholarship options 1. Ishan Uday scholarship for North eastern region 2. Govt. Of Assam mess fee waiver grant. 3. Special scholarship for st/sc/obc students (via govt. Of Assam) 4. Govt of Assam grant for single girl child. 5. Dibrugarh University chief warden scholarship for research scholars.

Campus Life :

The annual festival is called varsity-week and it last for 7 days but brace yourselves for 2-3 programmes every week and if you desire you can attend dj nights every Saturday. The atmosphere of the university is very festive there are festivals, programme and conferences going on every alternate day and a tip: attend all conference as they serve packet lunch to all participants. There are many opportunities for sports enthusiasts as many students gets to represent the university in national level and state level games. The NCC culture is also very good , students have excelled in NCC and also paraded in republic day parade. Stay out of student politics and groups as it does no good. There is fast 5g internet throuout the campus, utilize that and enrol in some online coaching rather then joining any student groups. The library is average and mostly students use it to relax under AC

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel seats are limited but you will get a seat if you request the administration. To apply for hostel visit the dean of student affairs office, write an application attach BPL card if you have and if there is vaccancy seat is allotted to you. There are 7 boys hostel in total and 8 girls hostel. The meals are good in the hostel and also the fees are affordable. There is 24hrs electricity, running water and single rooms for PhD and msc students. Some hostel has 2 seater rooms. In addition there are a lot of pg s for boys and girls near the campus and also rented appartments and rooms are also available in an affordable rate near the campus. (Tip: look for rooms and pgs in dwara chuk they are cheap around 3.5k - 4k pm).

Admission :

The admission to all the courses in MSC, MA is by Entrance test named DUPGET which is held annually in the month of June - july. For PhD admission there is a Entrance test called DURAT. For B.Ed the entrance is Bed-CET. After qualifying the entrance there is direct admission without any PI for masters and bed programme. PhD admission are done after PI. The admission process is smooth and fees are taken via SBI-Collect portal online. The entrance test and PI for PhD are fairly simple and any average student can clear them with ease by studying only for few months. (Tip :- look for previous year papers almost 30-40% questions repeat). It is to note here that 90% of masters seats are reserved for students studying in colleges affiliated to Dibrugarh University so if you are not studying in any affiliated college then the getting into a course gets a bit tough but if you prepare well just a month before exam it will be a piece of cake trust me.

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratio is very good all the departments have 9-10 professors even more. Many professors have PhD for reputed institution of India and abroad and they come with very innovative ways of teaching and surely it fills you with confidence attending their classes. Since there are a lot of research scholars in the campus students in M.Sc and B.Sc or M.A have very good exposure to the research field and many students have contribution in published research work in M.sc level itself. Interactions with teachers is very good. I often visit my professors residence to discuss about some of the research work iam involved in.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason behind choosing this course is my deep interest in research area as our department shows good result in research domain .The curriculum provides us some topics that are to be deeply understood like we are imagining those topics in 3-D way and that will helps us in future aspects. The thing that need to be changed in our curriculum is course pattern itself because it lacks familiarity with CSIR - NET syllabus. The exams are held in the month of June and December and the difficulty level of the exam is from moderate to hard
