Remarks :

For the most part it is definitely worth it to join IITG. From good placement records to being the most beautiful campus in India there's something for everyone here. Accessibility sometimes cause issue but other than that, it holds up the hype it got.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Our course is more inclusive than any other design course in country since we have few engineering subjects as well. Exams are usually chill but assignment submission(Which carries more weightage than exams) are pretty hectic.

Placement Experience :

Placements have been great so far and internships stipend are increasing exponential. Average placement hovers around 20LPA. For stipend, 2018's highest from IITG was from design with 1 Lac per Month for 2 months same company took students this year for 2 lac per month.

College Events :

Ishanaya - Design fest, Techniche - Techno-Management fest, Alcheringa - Cultural Fest, Research Conclave, TedXIITG, Spic Macay, etc. There are way too many department based events held each year to mention and most of these can be found on Wikipedia.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

When compared to other Instituitions, it is very feasible. As a student with low income background, I do get scholarship which is basically 66% waiver for academic fees. Also there are programs which provides interest free loan to students who cannot pay at the moment.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

As a student with low income background, I do get scholarship which is basically 66% waiver for academic fees. Also there are programs which provides interest free loan to students who cannot pay at the moment.

Campus Life :

We have plenty of space in campus and hence number of sports ground are very high. Computer lab are well maintained and you use one of the few super computer in India if you research needs one. Gym and indoor games equipments are not well maintained and hence are not recommended if you don't know what you are doing.

Hostel Facilities :

Room are pretty big and mess food is better than what you'd expect from hostel. But washrooms aren't great. Each hostel got it's own gym, music room, canteen, juice center, mess and Library. Some even have common room for students to chill.

Alumni/Alumna :

We have pretty strong alumni network with clubs like SAIL keeping people in touch. We have multiple official fb groups and outlook network is also solid making it very easy to get in touch with alumni.

Admission :

You appear for exam called UCEED(Undergraduate cumulative entrance exam for design) which takes place around January. Wait for you rank for a month or two. Fill the preference sheet and then wait for allotment list. Addmission starts in August

Faculty :

Faculty are pretty good. We have many of the best design faculties in India including Utpal Baruah and Uday Kumar. There are faculty with vivid background hence for all aspects of design, we have atleast one exceptional professor to tale guidance from.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum could be updated. I think the first year courses are very basic and easy for design. They upgrade it a bit. The btech subjects that we had were very irrelevant. I don't think we will be using it in design in future.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Design is a field of creative ideas and thinking which influence me to go out of box and push my limit and do something different. The curriculum prepares me to use the creative part of my brain and creating solutions for real world problem through design.More improvement could be made in courses by integrating latest trends in field of design like Ar and Vr related. The exam for the courses are in two sections Theory and Practical. The Theory are pretty easy to moderate if u have attended the lecture and have idea about the subjects but the practical could be little difficult but with time there is improvement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is fine for B.des, but to be honest CITK is an engineering college so, for design students the environment is not that top notch over here. But in overall it's all good especially the faculties here are the best even in comparison to the other departments of our college.

Placement Experience:

Although the placement percentage is not 100% but the opportunities provided by the institute are very good. In the field of BDes, some of the top companies of the industry participated during the placements. In general, the highest CTC went to Rs. 1.5 CPA. Companies that visited for the placements were Microsoft, Google, Qualcomm, Oracle, American Express, Walmart, Adobe, Razorpay and Groww.

Remarks:

The environment is great. It's so pleasant and green. It's amazing to be a student here. The students are very friendly and kind. There is a vast variety of flora and fauna available. The only downside is that being away from main city, we don't get much attention.

Entrance Preview:

JEE, AIR 4742 Chose branch, not college. For my rank, Design seemed to be a perfectly fitting branch for me, hence I chose to go for it over BITS CSE.

Admission:

After I filled my choices and once my seat was locked, I got a confirmation letter (Offer Letter) from IIT Guwahati, inviting me to attend the institute. On reaching here, a procedure was followed, where all the official documents were verified, and an orientation was carried, which gave a glimpse of the life here at IITG.

Remarks:

Our campus is bound to grow more as a new boys hostel is being built, and expansion of various departments is taking place. And there are a few very tall buildings built for reasons I don't know, maybe for phD scholars.
